    Mine's 9 km/l... in a gas-guzzling Ford Lynx RS, thank you.

Thing is, many Optra owners I've talked to have the same sentiment (4 km/l for a 1.6? crap!)... of course, you don't really advertise this to the world, especially if you want to sell your car because of it...

Actually, many 1.6 AT Optra owners have the same grudge nga... it's really sad for me to meet a guy who's only had his car six months and who wants to sell already.

The glitch has a little to do with engine tuning, I think... the Optra may be tuned pretty rich to combat the effects of poor fuel. At least one guy has complained of engine knock (???) on different octane grades that lead to an engine rebuild.

As that's one guy, it doesn't make it widespread, but it could be an indicator of the problem.

The other problem is the engine is a Daewoo, and not as advanced as the "American Power" claims may lead some to believe.

And finally, it's a 1.6 AT. That's okay if it's designed as such, as Japanese car makers use 1.6s with a proprietary AT... but if the AT unit is common between the 1.6, the 1.8 and the 2.0, it might be much too heavy for the lowest end unit. That's sort of what we're seeing with new Mazdas and Fords... but their drinking blues are mainly because the cars are very heavy.

If it's really something that GM has addressed in the latest Optra (as they claim), then maybe it would be prudent of them to do a recall and re-flash those ECUs or replace whatever widget they replaced to bring the consumption down to respectable levels.

I've heard it was bad... but how bad? Mga 7 km/l ba yung mga lumang 1.6 AT?

....well, 4km/litre is indeed shitty for a 1600cc car pero ano ba claim ng optra? did they advertise their engine as fuel efficient?

My Evo averages about 4.5 km/l

Sounds like a guy with a grudge against GM, can't blame them for having one, but I can't forgive them for their automotive tastes.

yan din ang hirap sa advertising nila ang daming sahog

Like honda, they have a lot of publicity kesyo the media people is usung the thing in a race track etc. Pero as a buyer customer gamitin mo sa track iyan void ang warranty mo.

As for "Fix Or Repair Daily"... so far, none of us Ford owners in the family (there are two Explos, one Expe, two E150s, two Lynxes, two Lincoln Navs) have had too many problems, except my uncle and aunt with Lincoln Navigators, but he's a fourthhand (third owner in the Philippines) owner of a gray market unit, and hers is thirdhand.

Yung Lynx, admittedly, does have some electronic glitches, but these are limited to two very specific parts on early 1.6s.

*maxbuwaya: they have to prove that you were on the track, though.

My cousin's 2003 ford everest is so good, he does not have any complaints about it... the engine, the ride, the handling and styling. despite na 2003 model pa yun, up to now, wala syang na e-enounter na any major problems regarding the drive train or anything about the vehicle kahit na palagi pa nya yun nilulusong during seasonal knee high salty water hightide sa provincial road namin, FORD EVEREST IS A VERY RELIABLE VEHICLE. ewan ko ba kung bakit myay mga tao na hindi makuntento, masyadong perfectionist pero paniting the car? well, wala talaga akong masabi, sinira lang nya lalo yung car, sinayang ang factory paint job, in the end, sino ang lugi? diba sya? well, perhaps it's his/her own money, and they can do what ever they want, to the amasement na lang ng mga tao na makakakita sa kanya.

I was just so amazed with the true story behind this Ford Everest. Finally, I got to hear it first hand last night and this is how the story goes.

Owner is an American whose initals are BS - yes you read it right. He lives in Ayala Alabang and he is into manpower services. He sought the help of Ford Alabang to trade in his 2002 Ford Expedition by saying that there will be a decree soon that gas guzzlers will be taxed more. Next he got a reasonable P970T for his Expedition on the condition that it will be used to purchase a Ford Everest. Next, he asked that the check in the amount of P970t be issued under his name and he availed of the Everest in terms pa-wise guy. Oh yeah, moving a back further he took a road test of the car. After a while, he complained of the ride being bumpy and even saying that a friend commented that a pregnant woman seated at the back will likely give birth due to the bumpiness. A Ford representative attended to his problem and they can not find any defect at all. Btw, i just rode a Ford Everest yesterday and it is indeed quite bumpy but I knew that I wasn't riding a sedan, no qualms for me. Now he is demanding a buy back of his Ford Everest under unreasonable terms. He wants Ford Alabang to continue his amortization and will not leave his Ford Everest with the dealership so they may look for a direct buyer. He even said that he will be complaining to Ford head office FGP president but do you think anyone will listen to him.

Now here is the funny story. The unit is blacklisted amongst Ford dealerships. You know what the guy did for his PMS, removed the grafitti and brought it to Ford Edsa. Too bad, it was late for them to realize that this was the same unit. After servicing, he put back the grafitti and did his usual caravan.

You want more, upon the dealership's check of this person's backround, they found out that his business address is listed under his Ayala Alabang address. Is this allowed, I do not think so. Does he have the credibility to have his complaint to prosper? With his other demands I must say that he is totally unreasonable.

Ok fine, you must be wondering if the BS on top is really his initals? The answer is a resounding YES. A lot of effort has been put but he still compares the ride of his Everest to his ols Expedition which had air suspension.

Also, the buy back amount is unreasonable at P1,015,00. Ano ka sinusuwerte?

Where did I get all this information? From of the person who talked to him. For his side of the story, I do not have access.

Read the details how he acted and it is your judgement.

Ah... blacklisted... sounds like someone else who logged in with us not so long ago...

Pure BS all right... so there really is no complaint about the differential? Just the ride?

Wala rin ako masabi sa Everest, I took it for a spin from the dealership testing it around alabang last year and doing 120 on daang hari. I thought it was a good practical car. I even got a free key chain from the test drive Oh well, that was my intention anyways - freebie!!!

LOL sounds like an upstanding guy. Ford often bends over backwards to serve their customers... if they actually went as far to replace the differential, then they were very anxious to get rid of him.

Wonder if they can sue him for slander? Would be an interesting case.

Like I've said in previous posts... so many people buy "Fords" and think they're getting luxury, when all they're getting is just a car. They ought to lighten up.

Unjust vexation and that is the reason why I did not state what BS stands for. But it is a very common name.Btw, he is an American.

American, eh? I can imagine what he was thinking the moment he realised the ride was bumpy:

"This car's too bumpy. It rides like a jeepney. I know, I'll sue and make million$ muhahahahaha$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!"

*sees an actual jeepney pass by*

"Oh s**t, I'm in the Philippines! I'd be called a moron if I do that!"

I guess he was expecting the Everest to be a diesel "version" of the Expedition.
