I'm sure all of us here love our cars.

Don't you just hate it when you come back to the parking lot and your car is dented by some careless driver or passenger opening his door wide enough for an elephant to pass through?

To those who were victimized by these guiltless people, I'm sure you'll agree we need compensation. To me, even a simple sorry note on my door or windshield will suffice. But if the damage is substantial, I'll demand monetary compensation.

Bear with me on this one but this is my advocacy: enough abuse on our clueless cars!

This is what I've been doing, and propose to be done by everyone. If I witness an event like that, I approach the offending person and serve him notice on the damage he has caused to another person's car. I admonish him to own up to the damage and inform the owner with a message posted on the windshield, driver's side. If he doesn't, I'm the one who leaves a note to the car owner regarding the incident and leave important data like the plate number of the car, make and model, even description of the driver. I make sure the victims get their message by slipping it on the inside of the driver side door.

Imagine if everyone does this, we can trigger guilt on the offending party. No one should leave the parking lot when they cause damage to someone else's property, no matter how small.

The past year I've been doing this, I've come across all types of people from the apologetic-harassed-for-time moms to the filthiest scum of the earth.

One time, a brash balding old man on an EK Honda dented a new Ford Focus parked at Greenhills. I approached him and told him about his "mistake". He said: "sa yo ba yang auto?" I said: "hindi po pero baka gusto niyo magiwan ng note sa may-ari?". The guy went berserk and even threathened me. To make the story short, I left the note to the driver but didn't tell him what i did next.

Soon as baldy left, I got out my trusty Spyderco folder, and stabbed the roof multiple times. He must've cursed the next rain that came along! ;)

Payback is a bitch! Yeah baldy with the leaky EK Honda, that was me!
