Heck, some are even doing only 60 kmh and hogging the left lane.

I thought I was the only one that gets pissed with those who pass on the shoulders on NLEX.

The only time I think it's acceptable is if one lane on the viaduct is blocked and road marshalls really allow slow moving traffic on both the remaining lane and the shoulder.

Yung mga nagoovertake naman sa shoulder, ganun din ang babagal din magdrive after the viaduct so I wonder what their point is. And lalo na yung mga hindi naka easytrip - getting an easytrip would save them more time without the tradeoff of risking a collision with a stalled vehicle.

The problem also with NLEX right now is that the road widening has made for some awkward lanes. 1/4 of the middle lane now occupies part of the shoulder, which sits a few inches lower than the true lanes of the highway.

End result is that those in the middle lane drive too close to the left lane. Those on the left lane drive too close to the right lane because they're not used to the concrete barriers that run through the middle of NLEX because of the construction. This ultimately slows down traffic as most people aren't comfortable driving too close to each other.

Last weekend nasa San Fernando ako, pabalik ng manila since Monday the next day volume of vehicles is heavier.

No choice naman na, right lane puro truck / slow vehicles and it's not like you can make the left lane wide open for passers since dalawang lane na nga lang.

    If and only if :

These people would merge properly (and not use the shoulder).

And the vehicles are rolling at the right speed for all of the available lanes... [slow vehicles to the right]. And no UZI,- just keep on grinding on the business of driving, man.

Then, traffic should be moving at a constant steady speed, though slower than desired, BUT with no stops....

We, Pinoys, don't get it. As all of us want to get ahead of everyone.

As i mentioned earlier, it's tempting to feign an emergency stop on the shoulder when you see them coming up. However doing such will put others at risk just as well so common good will prevail.

Last Sunday afternoon, the NLEX patrol pulled over a truck that was passing on the shoulder lane on the viaduct, however he let the other SUVs and cars get through.

Agree though that the driving easy and having an Easy Trip makes for better time in most cases, versus the guy driving balls to the wall, only to line up at the exit.

NLEX used to have offset, mini humps in some portions before (pre-facelift NLEX), especially when it's the shoulder near an exit or overpass. You could drive over them without causing damage however they did rattle the car unevenly unless you were in a vehicle with a really good suspension.

Candaba Viaduct is now 3-lanes, so hindi na siya shoulder overtaking. [emoji23]

I just wonder how or where you'll make an emergency stop if you experience car troubles in that 5km stretch...

^ Ano yan, if you can't beat em, join em?

I don't get the point though as before and after the viaduct, it's remains to be the narrow two lanes due to the ongoing expansion.

Road widening is key for our country. Breakdown support response should be faster...

Well it's supposed to be completed by December 2016 so I guess it's to prevent the viaduct from becoming a bottleneck..
