Motorcycle rider cheats death in Marikina road mishap
MANILA, Philippines - Amid a string of grisly motorcycle-related deaths in Metro Manila earlier this week, a 31-year-old motorcycle rider cheated death in a mishap in Marikina City before dawn Friday.
Radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported that the rider, Armando Villanueva, 31, of San Mateo in Rizal, escaped with injuries to the knee and leg.
The incident occurred in Nangka village in Marikina City, where Villanueva's motorcycle slammed into an FX taxi.
Witnesses said Villanueva appeared drunk as his motorcycle was crisscrossing along the road before hitting the FX taxi. They also said Villanueva was lucky as he was wearing a helmet.
Earlier this week, a motorcycle rider was crushed and cut in half after being sandwiched between two trucks in Pasig City, while another rider was killed after colliding with a van in southern Metro Manila. - GMANews.TV
