kaka awa naman yung driver..pero dapat lahat tayo mag iingat at always defensive driving lang..mahirap makipagsubukan ng head on..yung driver siguro ng suv d kabisado and daan at malamang naenganyong humataw dahil suv dala nya,sa discription kasi ng driver eh magpreno pa man yung suv wala rin syang pupuntahan dahil panay bus inovertakan nya..wrong move talaga..

with today's modern powerful SUV's many drivers feel they are invincible, just last night i almost had a head on collision with a red strada(new body) with MAYOR plates in front. this was about 8:30 pm

if you are familiar with m. paterno road in san juan. it has 2 hills coming from n. domingo. towards santolan. i came from santolan. and was about to go up the first rise when i sensed that the lights on the top of the road was a bit bright. so i slowed down to a full stop and turned my lights bright and behold a jeep on the correct lane and the !d!ot strada trying to over take at the foot of the hill on my lane.

he even had the balls to honk his horn at me and turn his lights bright, when he was about 3 meters in front of me.

if the strada group here knows the owner tell him be careful hope he doesn't end up like the everest as G liner buses sometimes pass thru there too.

didn't get to read his rear plates as he zoomed by my side by about a foot.

to beni23 : nope didn't have the chance to look as i was blinded by his bright lights so when i looked back i was seeing spots. was hoping your group knows him so you can lecture him on proper overtaking.

if he's not a member of your group... it's ok and thank you for your help, just wanted to share

have been bullied so many times by big new SUV's since i drive a small vitara.

On another note, PhilStar classified the Ford Everest as a VAN in its article. Chalk one up again to media ignorance.

Four wheels... three rows of seats... was it four-wheel drive? Nope... Van is about right.

    -

This is something I was discussing with the emergency preparedness trainers while we were driving up north... Always honk your horn a few times before going through a blind curve or long sweeper (I do)... to let people on the other side of the curve know you're coming. Because there are a dad-blamed lot of idiots who don't understand what double-yellow lines are.

Yeah. To think they're on vacation.

When we go on vacation as a family with several vehicles, we just travel at a loose convoy or kanya-kanya talaga. I can say most of us drive at a quick clip, passing cars, buses and trucks with redline 2nd-3rd gear shifts and we use our signal lights to let those following know whether it is clear/safe to pass or if its time to move in as there are oncoming vehicles or a blind curve. At the end of it, we all keep to our own pace and kung magkaiwanan, walang problem since we all see each other at the rest stop or when we get to our destinations. Yung ibang convoy kasi, parang mamamatayan kung nasinigitan or nagkaiwanan sila.

    ^Subjective yan. Depende sa tao.

    Minsan "wait lang, ako muna"
Minsan naman "bilisan mo mauna ka na!" :bwahaha:

    Pero mas madalas yung una.

If youl notice in some vehicles yung signal stalk ng flash may nakasulat na pass then may arrow pataas.

That means you are signaling the opposite traffic that you have to pass and you are claiming the right of way, and they need to prepare to yeild.

Sometimes it means that your light is blinding the opposite traffic signaling you to switch or check your beams.

Kung namimickup ka along the road, it means you are signalling your presscence and dapat lapitan ka.

The feature is called flash to pass. It means the one flashing is claiming right of way. The correct local answer would be a quick off and on of your low beams if this was at night. However, a growing number of motorists also drive with their headlamps on during daytime and the same off and on gesture is appreciated.

ayun ganyan din pagkakaintindi ko.."the one flashing is claiming right of way"...

kasi dito sa lugar ko baligtad naman. ...

    BTT.

kaya dapat sumunod na lang sa mga road signs..im guessing may solid lines ang mga blind curve..kaya kahit gaano pa
kabagal yung nasa harap mo..you are not allowed to overtake

they (the one in front of you) may even (hand) signal you to pass them. or they will turn their right turn signal lights to signify that they're letting you pass them. kumbaga a matter of trust and honesty plus courtesy na rin.

kahapon as i was travelling to the north somewhere (just passed)urdaneta, may convoy ng mga suvs, hiaces, etc. na naka-on ang mga headlights. lead car (a hundred meters away from me) signalled with his lights then akala ko sya lang andami pa pala humihirit sa likod. nung malapit nako ako na rin nagflash ng headlights ng sunod sunod. ayun bumalik ang mga loko sa kanilang mga linya. kala mo eh sa kanila daan.

If you frequently doing long drive in the provinces, my advise is to invest in a garmin gps.
It will at least give you a perspective of what the road looks like ahead.
It will also give you an idea on where is the best part of the road to overtake.
The gps will not show you the oncoming vehicles but it will at least guide you if your making a risky pass.
I even created waypoints of all train crossing as a proximity alert, warns me if im nearing a crossing, so I can slow down.
