I thought Tonto has mil training, then why did he go to the home-province of his wife when surely law enforcement agents would swarm it. Again, it was his own stupidity that did him, not so much of the price or reward on his head.

In one of the articles linked in this thread, apparently he went home to his wife in Masbate (where he was caught). The wife then contacted another army reservist to get in touch with the army unit in the area so they will know that her husband is in her house. This is just my interpretation, but it was possible that he was surrendering already but not to the Police, knowing that he most likely will be salvaged, hence his flight to Masbate.
