I guess you're entitled to run them off the road during times when they're prohibited, that is if you don't mind damaging your own ride. You can also steal their parking space even if they're ahead of you. Besides, they shouldn't be on your way in the first place.

    You don't?

FYI, gov't vehicles are supposed to be used only to carry out intra-curricular activities of the departments in which they are assigned. These cars are not to be seen on the road after office hours, which obviously disallows usage during weekends and holidays.

In other words, those cars are not theirs to use for personal/family concerns. While we may not be able to trace completely what's being done to them, we can at least minimize the frequency of this illegal doing. For one thing, we shouldn't see red plates running at night.

    FYI.

Some vehicles are assigned as a personal transport (including a driver sometimes) to high-ranking officials (depends on the department / office) - usually this is to entice notable people from the private sector to work for the government.

And hagiber is right, work in the government doesn't stop at 5PM. What if they were hosting a conference / forum and it ended late? Or that they have to meet with people outside of the office? Or that these persons are just on the way home?

So there are really loopholes here. There's no telling which is which. Others abuse because they are likely not to be distinguished from those legitimately using the red-platers.

There should be clear signs on the vehicle stating which department it belongs to, so that we need not be suspicious on those that are on the road 24/7.

MYOB na lang siguro ang dapat natin ipairal as mamamayan regarding these issue of govt. vehicles. I think some of us are getting too excited with this misuse of govt. vehicles. mahirap din na baka sa sobrang pagpansin ay lalong nde ma-deliver ang basic govt. services.

with the traffic & the uncertainty in manila streets, I doubt na masusunod naman parati on time lahat. there is still a line between being a responsible reporting citizen or being an invader of privacy, be it public or private, tao pa din ang pinaguusapan dito.

while I agree that madalas talagang magamit for personal use ang mga gov't vehicles (Dapat may tatak sa gilid na " For Official use also", hindi pa rin indication of misuse yung makita mo ang mga ito after office hours. Yung mga vehicles ng Pagcor for example, 24 hours un dre.

I agree with you that these vehicles should not be used for personal/family use but I still dont see any evidence that these were misused...

FYI, some government operations dont stop at 5 oclock or during weekends and holidays. Many official government meetings with the private sector occur outside of office hours and necessarily, the vehicles that brought them to the meeting will have to travel outside of office hours. So unless you have proof that they are guilty, their innocence is maintained. You are welcome to run them off the road if you like... lets see what will happen :-)

di mga tsikoteers heard nyo na rin yung mga misuse ng mga "gas stubs" ng mga __ (baka meron mga matamaan e!) some even consuming as high as 100 liters a day!!! My god talking about conserving oil na pinopromote pa mismo ng government! tayo ang naghihirap sa enjoyment nila (walang free oil sa mundo!). I saw it kasi sa eyewitness dati, nag-init nga ulo ko nun when I saw their abuse of authority! karmahin sana sila!

tama si mazdamazda re gov't work doesn't stop at 5PM (specially for those in the upper positions). how would we know if the vehicle's on official business? if the driver has a trip ticket with him. gov't driver's/vehicles can't (shouldn't) travel without a trip ticker which states the purpose of their travel. ang alam ko pinapalagay ung trip ticket sa windshield para madaling makita ng ibang tao pero most drivers dont do that kasi ung trip ticket is basically a letter-size document. it would block the view (somewhat) of the driver if he places it sa windshield nya. most just place it sa glove compartment or sa dashboard para madaling makuha pag may magpaparang pulis or may magtanong sa kanya.

Scanned this thread. Hope Tsikot can be a voice for us on this. I really crunge to think us taxpayers pay for the increasing gas prices, maintenance, and purchase prices of government vehicles being used by abusive un-audited government employees for personal non-official government trips. I sometimes think the government should be controlling this, instead of imposing more taxes like E-vat?
