Website for complaints vs PUVs launched

    The Philippine Star 04/16/2003

To strengthen the government's programs against unscrupulous operators and drivers of passenger utility vehicles (PUVs), the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has come up with text numbers and a website where victims can lodge their complaints.

DOTC Undersecretary for Information and Communications Technology Virgilio Peņa said yesterday that the program is intended to improve the two agencies' response to complaints.

"We want to improve our capability to receive and respond to complaints so we'll be making use of text and websites to reach out to the public. This on-line service will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week," he noted. Under the program, complainants could reach either the DOTC or the LTFRB by typing "DOTC or LTFRB space <message> space <name> then send to 2299.

They can also log on to www.dotc.gov.ph/actioncenter.

    it's about time...

pero i think private organizations (like tsikot.com) can do more...

anyway, we will brainstorm about this for our future project and advocacy...

PUVs should never be the kings of the road by virtue (or vice) of their sheer size or number.

    oy okay to ah..!!

    down with the PUV's..ehek!!

up ko lang to... buhay pa ba kaya yang hotline na yan. How about our fellow tsikoteers with contacts with the higher ups baka makakatulong sila. We need to have an avenue to file our complaints. I encounter atleast one abusive PUV driver a day lalo na mga jeep.

I just reported thru LTFRB mobile number 09214487777 (the number displayed on the rear of every PUV) about the incident two (2) nights ago along EDSA/Shaw underpass (northbound). A GASAT EXPRESS BUS with body number 22652, despite slow traffic, was weaving/snaking. It overtook and cut me and almost sideswiped my car. Fortunately, when I swerved to avoid it, I did not hit the infamous pink fence just right after the underpass. The bus has no rear plate number.

I encourage everyone to report abusive drivers and let's see what would happen.

I hope this effort by LTFRB will not go to waste and disciplinary actions will be imposed against the abusive drivers.

But what about the abusive drivers of private vehicles, trucks, government vehicles?

    geebunny,
you should have checked the side or the back of the bus. Usually required sa bus naka paint sa body yung plate number aside from the license plate itself.

Dami ungas na bus drivers na ganyan lalo na sa commonwealth

Just a while ago on my way home, a white toyota corolla taxi (di ko nakuha plate #) 3rd lane (from the left) at Roxas Blvd suddenly swerved 2 lanes, don't know if he was getting a client or saw a potential client buti nalang mabagal takbo ko (doin around 40kph) and I was behind when he swerved to my lane and the next lane... funny thing is di man lang ako naiinis, I was kinda groggy from the long drive and gimik that my fuse just didn't burst hehehe. All I could do was shake my head.
