January 3rd, 2010 07:51 AM #514I would assume that things went ok since the thread is quiet. Any form of dissatisfaction would have found it's way to this thread. The oil change thing is reasonable enough but just make sure you have your checklist marked "CDI" (Customer declined inspection).
Funny thing though, I remember there was 1 case when a particular branch had an issue with a Crosswind which was booked in for a change oil. I couldn't believe what happened. The oil filter that was installed turned out to be the incorrect one which resulted into the vehicle losing oil while the customer was driving. End result--lost oil--engine knock--overhaul. The customer was so pissed that he decided to bring the vehicle to a CASA and have the car fixed there. Rapide ended up shouldering the 100k bill that the CASA charged on the overhaul.
One has to be very careful with these Isuzu's as their oil filters tend to be very tricky. Notably the C-502's and C-503's, in VIC brand. If you get it wrong, it's going to be tragic as what happened to the customer I mentioned.
Am pretty sure Lea would know about this.

January 8th, 2010 08:33 PM #517Dinala ko ung Optra ko sa knila. My complaint was stock-up ang preno sa harap, Pero before ko dlhin sa knila pina check ko na sa isang mekaniko estimate nya gagastos daw ako ng around 6-700 pra sa rapair kit. tpos 300 per wheel. nag pa 2nd ipinion ako sa Rapide lapit sa Sta Lucia. They check tpos kelngan daw palitan ung buong brake caliper then they gave me a quotation of 13.5K per caliper so dalawa yun so 27K lahat.

January 9th, 2010 07:33 AM #519Just to be balanced. Back in early 2008, I had encountered a stuck up caliper problem with an optra. Surprisingly, there was no caliper kit available during that time. No genuine part available nor a replacement caliper kit. Surprisingly they don't make one during that time. So the only recourse is to get a caliper assembly. The caliper assembly costs only 9,000 pesos sa GM casa. It's an original GM part (though it's made in China). The reason why 13,500 was quoted is the manager marked it up 9,000 x 1.5= 13,500 pesos. That will give Rapide a GP (Gross Profit) of 30%. Formula --- 13,500-9,000= 4,500. Then 4,500.00 divided by 13,500= 30%.
IF there is indeed no replacement caliper kit available for the optra as of today, the cheapest way to go about it would be go to casa and purchase the caliper assembly and have that caliper assembly installed by your favourite mechanic. Your favourite mechanic will just charge you a few hundred pesos for that. In the end you will save a lot.
Take note though....the Casa GM shaw and GM Pasig are also owned by the Limcaocos who as now you know also own Rapide.
I suggest you try and call Thunder Automotive in down town Manila branch or the Quezon Avenue Branch as well. They might just have the caliper kit or the caliper assembly that might be cheaper. That is the best place to get your Chevrolet, Ford Expedition, and American branded parts.
Hope that helps

Hi! Maybe you are referring to Rapide Marikina, and I've checked with them already. Since I don't exactly know your plate number, we assumed that you were the one who visited last Jan. 6, 2010. What they quoted you is the price of caliper assembly, inclusive of brake housing for an optra plus labor; I believe your mechanic quoted you for estimated repair labor only. And yes, we don't have available replacement (not original) parts for optra right now.
We recommend that you bring your car to any reputable service center or to any Chevrolet dealership (not all chevy is a Rapide sister company) and have your car repaired there, if you are not comfortable having it service in Rapide. I'm sure that they will offer warranty on the parts and labor coz Rapide offers warranty up to 6 months for that kind of service also.
The downside of buying it yourself is the hassle of you going around (gas expense, since you are from Marikina) and making sure that is properly installed by your mechanic; you don't want your parts' warranty void right?
