SAN MIGUEL, Bulacan -- Three passengers were shot dead by robbers who held up an Ifugao-bound bus along the national highway in Barangay (village) Balite here on Friday morning.

Superintendent Manaranay Lopez, police chief here, said one of the four suspects boarded the Victory Liner bus when it reached Barangay Sta. Rita, near the North Luzon Expressway, in Plaridel town. The three other suspects boarded the bus in Barangay Poblacion, also in Plaridel.

Lopez said the suspects announced the holdup when the bus, carrying 29 passengers, was cruising the national highway in Barangay Balite here at about 12:45 a.m.

He said they were still investigating why the suspects, who were armed with .45 cal. pistols, shot and killed passengers Ramil Caagusan, Beljohn Bonje and Sigfried Eheng.

Lopez said they have no reports yet about the amount of cash and valuables taken by the suspects from the passengers of the bus, which came from Quezon City.

Reports from the Central Luzon police office in Pampanga said Isabel Monje, another passenger, was wounded in the incident.

After the suspects alighted, driver Arnel Saņez drove the bus to Gapan City in Nueva Ecija to report the robbery to local police.

Sigh, when I saw the title of this thread, I was hoping it's the robbers who got killed. Not the passengers.
IMO, these robbers should no longer be considered human and should be eradicated ASAP.

    RIP to the 3 passengers.

If the robbers were captured or killed, another group of robbers would come out. Capture / kill them, another comes out. This has been the cycle. The government must solve the underlying problems - the massive corruption, unemployment, poverty.

Meantime, we must be vigilant and extra careful. When traveling, especially commuting, just bring enough cash, don't wear jewelries or bring valuables.

Cellphones are the targets of robbers, holduppers, snatchers - avoid carrying expensive phones.

And most especially, if in the same situation, don't resist or fight.

actually you are right that most crimes root from poverty but poverty is not an excuse in commiting crimes since most of their victims are all poor too....

The root cause is the lack of respect of people with the Law.

And certainly, poverty is not the root cause of the problem, but rather, the lack of patience and eagerness to work. Katamaran to put it bluntly. Yung prostitutes naman, at least those who work for money by choice, are also the same. They don't want to do work so they just sell flesh.

Here in the Philippines, there's so much business opportunities and opportunities to earn. Ewan ko bakit hindi makita ng karamihan.

    If there's a will, there's a way.

The law has tooth..if ever it has one, pustiso pa..

I wish those who did this will suffer the same fate...
