I used to have plate cover installed way back before pa naging issue yan. Tinamaan ng bola ng billiards kaya nabasag. Never bothered to replace them. I do install plate holders though(yun hindi tilted).Plates do leave a mark kapag nakadikit sa paint. Replaced it with rubber stoppers as spacers, yun nga lang naputol yun bolt. Have to go to a shop to have it removed.

Lets admit it, covers somehow impede the plates readability but we cannot deny that it offers some sort of protection.

Magkano gastos?

Spray clear coat every 6 months as a protection against fading.

The clear type covers aren't as innocent as they seem, they are being used in some countries to avoid being pictured at traffic cams.

Until walang final written declaration play it safe na lang and remove everything.

Kanina while renewing my registration the emissions center will not take a picture of your rear plate if it has a cover. No choice eh.

siya yung nagt-troll and kwentong trip lang dito palagi using different usernames. from having multiple suvs as much as his handles here to having an 86 with a bike rack to getting fit and being gay all at the same time. at first nakakatuwa pero ngayon hindi na. sick and tiring na yung mga very old antics niya dito. like telling a bad joke to the same person over and over and over and over.... again.

speaking of armored car. pagnagpa-armored ka nh vehicle does that qualify as modification na bawal ayon sa lto?

^^^ Tilting plates have always been illegal. They're used to "hide" a plate number from plain view.

imho plates should be coming from the car dealers...LTO will just forward all the plates to every dealership...ganun dapat and cars shouldnt be allowed to roll out without plates...ganun lang ka simple...bakit pa kasi may mga conduction sticker pa..nagiging complicated lang lalo.....and to think plates can be made in a day...locally made naman siguro mga plates

btt..clear plates should be allowed and yung plate frame

if bawal sa new plates, dapat bawal din sa old plates. in a way it is just delaying the inevitable. pag na-isyuhan na ng new plates ang mga old cars (start next year?), edi bawal na rin sa kanila ang plate covers, etc.

In some U.S. states license plate frames are illegal. Plates are designed to conform to standards with regard to being read by eye in day or at night, or by electronic equipment. Some drivers purchase clear, smoke-colored or tinted covers that go over the licence plate to prevent electronic equipment from scanning the licence plate. Although some are legal in the United States, many of these covers are not, and their use is discouraged in other countries.

Journal Online - Ban on accessories applicable only to new plates -- LTO

THE ban on accessories is applicable to only new car plates for newly-purchased vehicles.

This was clarified yesterday by Land Transportation Office Jason Salvador amid numerous complaints received by the LTO regarding the newly-imposed ban on car plate accessories. “Linawin natin na ang policy sa plates accessories sa ilalim ng Joint Administrative Order No. 2014-01 Section II ay para lamang sa bagong plates, “ Salvador said in an interview.

Salvador cited Section-II which states that the LTO bans accessories not authorized by the LTO. These include plate holders, plate covers or any other kind of accessory that “impedes in any way the visibility the authorized motor vehicle license plates and/or the third plates sticker.”

Salvador also clarified that also banned are clear or glass plastic plate covers, tilting plate holders and “even brackets that in any way cover a part of the plate itself.”

“On the spot kumpiskahin po yan ng enforcer at P5,000 po ang multa nyan,” Salvador added.

Salvador encouraged motorists to follow the LTO order to avoid inconveniences. “Our enforcers definitely will flag down any vehicle violating the new plates policy,” he warned.

Sumunod po tayo sa itinatadhana ng plates rules and regulation, iwas gastos pa,” he said.

just a thought, i've never been to europe kasi. do the majority of motorists there use plate covers and brackets or similar items?

Hmmmm, I just saw at NLEX last week a L300 with new plates with clear plate covers. Nakakatawa nga tignan kasi yun pagkaka-bolt ng plaka sa mounting niya is loose, so tendency eh nag-sway yun plates niya.

Oh another thing, regarding sa bolts, how would LTO know kung yun mga naka new plates eh gamit ang official bolts?

well, by visual inspection. the LTO bolts have breakable (hexagon) heads. you tighten the bolts until these hexagon heads break away. what will be left are the round parts only.

Bili kayo ng Plate Cover authorized or produced by LTO, puchang ina.
