    P-I NAMAN!!!!

Authorities seized firearms and electronic gadgets in dormitories occupied by at least four prison gangs at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City Wednesday morning.
The raiders also found a caged civet cat, locally known as “musang,” which is either being kept as a pet or as a source of exotic coffee.
Msgr. Robert Olaguer, Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) spokesperson, said a joint team from the BuCor, Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency raided Dormitories 2, 5 and 9, where members of prison gangs Sigue-sigue Sputnik, Commando, De Cuerna and Genuine Ilocano were staying.

Seized during the raid were high-powered firearms, airsoft guns, mobile phones, chargers, over 60 bladed weapons, wooden knuckles and drug paraphernalia. There were also *** toys, a television and a personal refrigerator.
Also confiscated was assorted cash worth P140,000 in P1,000 bills.
“I think the firearms have been concealed there for a long time. It would certainly take several years to hoard them. It’s only now that we’re discovering them because this time, the information is coming from inmates themselves,” Olaguer told reporters in a text message.
Some of the guns were found concealed beneath a concrete stage between Dormitory 2 and 9. The stage is used for performances and programs.
The BuCor, citing ongoing investigations, declined to identify the owners of the kiosks or “kubol” in the dormitories where guns and contraband were found. Kiosks are private rooms occupied by prison gang leaders and prominent prisoners.
On Oct. 27, Justice Secretary Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa ordered BuCor Director Ricardo Rainier Cruz III to investigate the continued entry of contraband into the state penitentiary.
The investigation was ordered after authorities found guns, cash and jewelry in the kiosk belonging to a Commando inmate, Charlie Quidato, shortly after he was killed.

There is a new doj sec thats why pasikat muna, knowing how pinoys work, its like in customs and the BIR, its already part of the culture, the ratio of guards to inmates are dismal, thats why they allow gangs inside, its easier to manage a gang leader/leaders than individuals, btw, Jun cassanova, the guy holding the shotgun is a personal friend.

Another ningas cogon move. I guess money from drug lords is really irresistible.

Maybe we can follow Indonesia's lead when dealing with drug lords

‘You Can’t Bribe Crocodiles,’ Says Indonesian Who Suggests Guarding Prison With Crocodiles | Foreign Policy

Indonesian officials take drug trafficking so seriously that those found guilty can be subject to death by firing squad the same capital punishment carried out against murderers or terrorists.

And now, drug smuggling offenders waiting on death row may have even more to worry about.

This week, Budi Waseso, Indonesias anti-drug czar, suggested the government build a prison island to house the drug offenders, and then surround it with the most ferocious type of crocodile.

We will place as many crocodiles as we can there, he reportedly said. You cant bribe crocodiles. You cant convince them to let inmates escape.

And on Friday, despite being widely mocked for his recently introduced plan, Waseso took it one step further. It is also possible we may use piranhas, and because the number of personnel at the prison might not be enough, we can also use tigers, he said.

Wasesos island prison may sound more like a scene out of James Bonds Live and Let Die than a legitimate option for how Indonesian authorities can handle drug smuggling.

But for a country with some of the strictest drug policies in the world, it may not be as implausible as it sounds. Despite the harsh penalties for drug smuggling, Indonesian officials claim that imprisoned drug lords at time work with or bribe the guards.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo has called drug smuggling a national emergency, and despite widespread international condemnation, seven foreign drug smugglers and one Indonesian were killed by firing squads in April.

According to the Guardian, the police officers tasked with shooting death row inmates are paid roughly $100 extra for the task.

I dont make conversation with the prisoners. I treat them like they are a member of my own family, one anonymous officer told the Guardian. I say only, Im sorry, I am just doing the job.

The crocodiles would likely not be so sympathetic. But Slamet Pribadi, a spokesman for Indonesias anti-drugs agency, defended Wasesos plan.

This is serious, this is not a joke, he told Agence France-Presse. Drug trafficking is an extraordinary crime and therefore the fight must also be extraordinary, we cannot fight the usual way.

Crocodiles, man-eating piranhas and tigers? Extraordinary indeed.

in his book "crime and punishment," the russian writer, fyodor dostoyevsky, said: "The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prison." all these things that are happening inside the walls of the national bilibid prison will give us a pause to think of our own degree of civilization, or the lack of it, as a country.

I used to frequent the bilibid prisons, around 6 years i regulary go there at least 2 times a week, there is the usual maximum, medium inmates, strict but you can go in and out if you know the right people, the minimum are the ones you see roaming around the compound doing menial jobs, sometimes i interview the ones the roam around and ask them of their crimes, most are murder, crimes of passion, killed their wives etc, some even have families there already, some even told me they are already "laya na", they just cant go back home, that will be suicide, which i understand, i had an experience where my rear tire was leaking air, told one inmate to come with me to look for a vulcanizing shop, he hopped at the back of my pickup, the guards at the daang hari exit got used of seeing me. Parang wala lang, btw, the vulcanizing shop we found was at the corner of alabang zapote road and bf homes or just google map toyota alabang

Why is this happening at all? The prison system is supposed to exist for "correction purposes."

    Armory yung nadiskubre nila.

Let's see what Digong will do starting June 30 as I'm sensing he wants to make a dramatic first few weeks.
