It makes me wonder if they should bring back the death penalty. Criminals with money don't suffer in jail. The only way to get rid of these scums is death.

It news like this that make me think this country is hopeless

Read the history of these 5 star kubols and you will find out that since time immemorial they have long existed in Bilibid. The thing is, this system has long been exposed (Remember Jalosjos with even his own tennis court?) and yet NOTHING had been done about it. Tapos ngyon, confiscate and demolish yung gagawin nila?

To some degree, I concurr with Sen. Santiago's view about affluent inmates paying rent for accomodation in luxurious cells. Tutal, wala na silang pakinabang kay henares dahil technically "without legitimate income" na sila; why not set up a fund for prison and personnel improvement using this rent-a-cell scheme. This is definitely an out-of-the-box idea but I believe it is doable.

    Tuwid na daan... papunta saan?

Doing that defeats the purpose of repentance and the fear of getting jailed.

Hindi kasi nasusunod rules and regulation.

i actually played in the said tennis court of jalosjos. hayop ang pustahan dyan. lahat ng laro gusto kargahan maski beginners lang ang magka-tapat

i remember i was able to talk to an inmate there who was a top u.p. engineering grad. at first i thought he was an official of the bilibid because he was polite, affable, and engaging. it turned out he was involved in one of those deadly on-campus frat wars the diliman republic was infamous for a few years back. it just goes to show how some people can mask their dark side really well

Colangco and his group had been tagged in a robbery at the Rizal Commercial Bank in Laguna in 2008.

Police described the Cabuyao bank heist as one of the bloodiest as it left 10 people dead. Nine of the victims were killed on the spot. Another died in a hospital.

Colangco was sentenced to 12 years in prison for another bank robbery in 2009.

“He is undergoing trial for robbery with multiple homicide for the RCBC heist and a string of other robbery cases,” Lansangan said.

CABUYAO, Laguna – Nine bank employees and a security guard were lined up and shot dead yesterday in what police described as one of the bloodiest bank robberies in history.

Nine of the victims were found sprawled on the floor of a branch of the Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) in Barangay Pulo here, after the bank failed to open as scheduled at 9 a.m., triggering the suspicion of customers who alerted the police, according to Calabarzon regional police director Chief Superintendent Ricardo Padilla.

The 10th victim, also a ranking employee of the bank, succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head while being treated at the St. James Hospital.

Not suprised the guards are in cahoots, since they only have a measley salary and the glare of money is really tempting...

MANILA, Philippines–Prison guards helped hide the quarters of so-called Very Important Prisoners (VIPs) and misled agents of the National Bureau of Investigation, who swooped down on New Bilibid Prison (NBP) on Monday to look for evidence that would link them to the illegal drug trade, according to an NBI official.

Worse, the inmates were apparently tipped off about the coming raid.

“Based on what we observed during the operations, the target inmates had been forewarned and were able to hide evidence of their ongoing illegal drugs operation inside the NBP compound with the help of some jail guards,” Eric Isidoro, the NBI head of the antidrugs unit, told the Inquirer on Wednesday.

Isidoro said his team was assigned to search the kubol (quarters) of three top drugs convict—Peter Co, Tony Co and Hans Sy.

“Except for [Peter] Co’s kubol, we did not find anything in the kubol of Tony and Sy that were incriminating. We later found out that the cells pointed to us by the jail guards as those of the convicts were wrong,” Isidoro said.

    Raid expected

“The raid was obviously leaked to the inmates because one inmate even told us, we were expected last Sunday,” said the NBI agent.

Isidoro’s team found a Walther PPK handgun, a 9mm Browning pistol, a 9mm Taurus pistol, a cal. 38 pistol and a Bushmaster rifle with optic sight in Peter Co’s kubol. These were hidden in a compartment behind a wall.

Also found in the compartment were loaded magazines and ammunition.

Isidoro said Co’s carpeted bedroom had a digital lock and an electric water pump covered by a garbage can.

Co’s bathroom included a sauna and a Jacuzzi, also found behind a wall.

“When you enter his kubol it showed a regular cell with electric fans, but we observed carpentry tools and noticed the smell of fresh paint. When we tapped the walls and removed the out-of-place Christmas tree, we saw a small hole. From that hole, we saw gym equipment,” Isidoro said.

“Behind the wall was the office of Co, equipped with a projector CCTV, an Apple desktop, five cell phones, a bar, the sauna and two bedrooms—one of which was equipped with disco lights,” the NBI agent said.

The kubol of Co yielded an air conditioner, a La-Z-Boy, and hot and cold shower and an aquarium.

    Misled

Isidoro said the guards brought the NBI personnel to the quarters supposedly occupied by Sy, but, according to the inmates, Sy’s actual kubol was near that of the leader of Commando gang, who was not on the list of NBI targets.

“It was also the other inmates who told us that it was not Sy’s kubol. But the jail guard insisted it was the correct cell,” Isidoro said.

He said only Peter Co’s cell phones were seized. “Except for Co’s, we did not find any cell phones that would surely help in the investigation.”

not really. Pnoy is more known to put blame on everyone other than himself and he is also known to praise himself and his admin every chance he gets.

back on topic.
