I met on the road yesterday a Mitsubishi Galant model between '89 to '91 (I know this because I used to own one).

The issue here is, I noticed that it is sporting a “new” plate number. The front and back plates starts with ZRC ***. I know “Z” is supposed to be assigned to newer car models.

When I checked this thru text at 2600 and I found out it belongs to a Toyota Vios 2008. I know that this car has already violated a law but I also know that it's none of my business. But strangely, why would they do this (place a new plate on an old car) unless they'd do it to avoid the number coding? On board were teenagers. In this kind of situation, what should we do?

same question here, i've seen a couple of 1990's car with Z plates, though in my case when I checked using 2600, both turns out to be legit. but what do we do if the plate does not match the car as the TS said?

Personally, I don't think you can do anything much about it. Reporting it to the proper authorities is futile as they will just ignore the report.

Kung yung ngang mas malalalang krimen eh walang nagagawa yung mga autoridad, yan pa.

Posting it here is proof that there are people who still care about this country, those who are aware of what is wrong with our people. Hanga ako sa inyo!

We should have a sticky regarding mismatched plates. Hopefully it will give some relief to those who put into heart the 7am to 3pm; 5pm to 7pm Rule, and try their best not to drive through Makati and San Juan on coding days.

I doubt na plate swapping lang kaso ng neighbor mo. Hindi pang kulong ang plate swapping. stiff fine lang ang katapat po nun. Baka naman talagang hot car ang gamit ng neighbor mo.

in the galant's case, sobrang obvious naman kung plate swapping ang ginawa niya, darating araw ma flag down kaagad yan for verification. Pero meron din kasi cases na identical plates are being issued to several vehicles and/or hindi kasi 100% reliable ang LTO 2600 vehicle database.

Puwedeng magkaroon ng bagong plates ang lumang kotse, based on my experience. Many years ago, our box type 80s+ Lancer was stolen. We reported this to the authorities who raised the alarm on the plate number and the car.

When the car was recovered (by myself... ), it was using a different car plate to avoid being flagged down by authorities. And when we went back to the authorities, we were given a plate number that was then the series in the 90s+....

It was never flagged down because it was an 80s+ car using a 90s+ plate. Anyway, we have the papers to prove that it was a legit plate number for the car....

ang tanga naman nila kung mag plate swapping sila to avoid coding eh ang layo ng series sa model ng car but since based sa text mo sa LTO na the plate is originally for a Vios, mukhang tanga nga sila

Napansin ko kaagad kasi makintab (meaning bagong bago)yung plate-For sure anyone, especially the proper authorities, can spot the immediate difference. The only thing that's new in the car (the exterior paint of the galant has faded) is the plate.

Isa pa, it was done in a brazen manner - nakabukas pa pati bintana nila as if proclaiming to the world that they could do such thing at hindi man lang sila naging discrete sa identities nila. Para nga silang nakakaloko. Palagay ko hindi nila alam na bawal yon or they might just be trying out the authorities.

IMHO, they should not get away with it - even in the guise of avoiding the number coding scheme. Kung tayo nagsasacrifice just to be able to abide by the law, dapat sila rin- all for the sake of contributing order to our streets.

Anyone can request and pay for a plate that doesn't have to match the year of the vehicle. LTO charges quite a good sum of money for specially requested plates. One of my rides has a plate that I specifically requested for that matches my initials at time of purchase.
