...my contact details is not updated

Was trying to use my credit card for gas last Wednesday when the casheir told me that the transaction was invalid. I called up HSBC and ask the customer service rep what was wrong with it. ABA!!!! naka hold pala yun card ko since Sept. 2006, yues I seldom use my card. And here is the worse part, their reason was my contact details was not updated, address, home number, office number...Grabe I pay my bills every month at hindi lang yun minimum tapos yun lang hold na nila yun card ko. I'M REALLY MAD NOW!!! And to think next week pa raw activate kasi may cutoff daw sila, anu yun billing?!?!?!?! They know my cp number, my home address , if they cannot contact me then why not add this request to my billing statement?

Anyone from BSP or any bank please comment on this coz this REALLY SUCKS!!!

    Boss Vic,

AFAIK, the BSP mandates the cardholders to update their contact information ONLY if there was a change in your contact details.

Hmmm, I'm not aware of that BSP regulation. I don't recall reading about that in the Manual of Regulations for Banks (MORB).

My theory is that palusot lang nila yun. AFAIK, yung call center ng HSBC is being outsourced to 3rd parties (yes, plural). CMIIW though.

I didn't use my Citibank Mastercard from 2001 to Sept. 2006. Everytime they billed me for the annual fee, I just called them na cancel ko na lang. But everytime naman, they waived it kahit Zero Rewards points ako. I used it several months ago to buy optical glasses for my wife, but paid it in full last December. So when they billed me for the annual fee nung January, sabi ko CANCEL. Then sabi nila, we'll waive it na lang.

It was never deactivated during those 5 years.

I think isang form of harrassment yon ah. Boss Afrasay you should complain to Bangko Sentral about this para madocument yung case mo.

I'd also like to share with you some experience i had just yesterday.

Someone from HSBC called me to say I won a raffle daw ang I am one of the lucky holders eligible to join their Income protect promo. They will just auto debit the premiums to my HSBC card. So inisip ko maganda naman dahil max of 2 million accidental death benefits for me and my spouse for 300+ a month so I agreed. Then the caller asked for more personal details (SSS, tin, etc) since it is due to be activated and it is being recorded daw.

Then kanina, tinawagan naman yung officemate ko telling him that he won a raffle promo from HSBC also (again???).

I immediately emailed HSBC telling them to cancel my agreement.

True man o bogus ito, i think HSBC should be more truthful in dealing with their customers. Maybe i should also complain about this.

    CREDIT CARD...

What i think about this is for the protection of the card holder...may mga bank n they usually hold the hard once n hindi talaga ginagamit... like kung may account k s bank then hindi mo nagagalaw they will put it as dormant one... in your case boss i believe other bank has the ability to reactive the card the same moment as the way they are holding it. The main problem lng don eh baka tamad n kausap mo or ala silang facility ganon. isa p yung reason n cut-off nila since ang cut-off naman talaga ng banks eh midnights at usually it takes seconds lng!!! HARANG....kaya you shoul asked for his name para marefer m yang problem next time s higher boss...

Still HSBC is better than Citibank...

bro suggestion ko lang, maganda siguro kung pa-deactivate mo muna yang card mo. parang something fishy out there. pag ibinigay mo yung mga SSS, TIN ay baka nakuha na nila yung ibang minimum details mo to make a valid transaction.

The customr service representative on the other side of the phone told me that they emailed me last Aug. 31, 2006. Unfortunately I was on bereavement leave and my mailbox was already full. They should've email me a second or call/text me on my cellphone. Anyway, I'll be applying for a Citibank card. I have to do this while I'm still with HSBC or else my CitiBank card would not be approved. Learned this when I had a bad experience with Standard Chartered Bank Card before I had this HSBC card. Had the SCB card cancelled, of course paid my bill in full, before applying for a new HSBC card. I think they have this Credit Card Association of the Phil agreement or something. Anyway if anyone of you knows an agent of CitiBank please refer her to me. After it's approved I'll cancel my card with HSBC. BTW, my secretary (Tess) called up HSBC and asked for their Manager. Someone told her the manager's name is Carlo, just Carlo. How informal can you get. How would you start a letter, Dear Carlo? Parang love letter ang labas nito. Oh yes it would one take a few seconds to activate my card, no need for those cut off b*ll sh*ts.

I don't use my card but I religiously pay the interest plus part of the balance. I'm wiping out my balance in preparation for a trip abroad. Kakapika talaga.

    hi!
yan nga po gusto ko sbihin s reply ko s inyo n once d nagagamit yung card nyo hold nila.. pro ang naging problem lng hindi nila inactivate since may capacity sila to do that. kaya may mga hotline ang bank kasi kung may mga credit card/ atm card n nawala or stolen pwede nila i-reactivate vice-versa pwede rin nila activate. s case mo sir ang problem d nila ni reactivate since good customer k p naman nung bank nila. yan ang malaking mali nila kaya nasisira sila s customer.

MSR3, please refrain from posting using abbreviated text linggo. also, don't post in ALL CAPS (in reference to your post in the Israel thread). Let this be a warning.
