How come Binay isn't being stripped of police power for making a mockery out of Philippine driving rules?
Anyway, if you're caught in such circumstance, you should contest it. Right turn on a red light is always allowed unless otherwise specified. In your case, there is no sign. For one thing, there are right-turn corners in Makati that have signs prohibiting turning during red.
Those MAPSA *$$holes are just trying to take advantage of innocent, misinformed people who look harmless, scared or willing to give out bribes immediately. Next time, challenge these chimps that you want your case to be brought to city hall. For one thing, what violation will they put on the ticket? The only thing they can hold against you is a street sign that is violated. I'm pretty sure they won't call the challenge if you did so, since there is no sign.

Ibang-bansa nga kasi ang Makati. Ayaw niyo Maniwala?

just a reminder to all fellow tsikoteers...
although it is allowed (Turning Right on Red, unless specified na bawal), baka when you argue with the traffic enforcers at malamang tama tayo ay sa ibang violation naman tayo i-charge e.g. not wearing seatbelts. alam nyo naman ang mga iyan, hahanap at hahanap ng butas pag napahiya na sila.

June 13th, 2006 10:23 PM #27Got stuck in traffic in Paseo cor Buendia recently. Saw a MAPSA officer and called his attention. Told him my case and I asked if it is really illegal to turn right on red anytime, he told me that it is not and I should have contested the apprehension.
BTW, if an apprehension is contested and the apprehending officer loses, do they incur penalties/punishment?

Kitang kita ko dati nung parahin yung kumanan from Buendia on a red light.

Just encountered one last night. Pakanan ako sa Makati Ave from Landmark (yung street papunta Greenbelt from Landmark). Wala naman NRTRS sign or a red arrow sa traffic light and hindi pa naman go yung incoming traffic so kumanan ako. Lo and behold! Andun sila 3 sa ilalim ng overpass going to Landmark! Takbuhan ko sana nung pinapara ako kaso may motor. Pagtigil ko sabi ko ano violation. Red light daw pero nag-go ako. Sabi ko naman wala NRTRS sign nor a red arrow and I turned right with caution nakita naman nya.
