I got this from a person working with Nissan (not Nissan Manila)... Maybe this can help shed some light on the issue:
Just want to share this letter which I got from one of the managers of Nissan Manila. And someone from NMPI confirmed that tulfo's demand for a Patrol is true...

TO ALL NISSAN MANILA CUSTOMERS
The past few days, NISSAN MANILA was a victim of “TRIAL BY PUBLICITY”. The not-so-popular investigative show “Bitag” hosted by Mr. Ben Tulfo aired by Channel 13 every Saturday evening accused us of fraud and deceit against our customers, insurance companies and the Nissan manufacturer. Our own official statement, hoping to give light to those accusations were deliberately edited to circumvent us and eventually favored his whistle blower.
It is you, our valued clients and the viewing public in general deserves to know the truth and facts must be delivered untarnished. The following are our statements you were deprived of by “Bitag”.
1. Nissan Manila terminated “Bitag” ’s whistle blower who called himself “Pastor” Jaime Padrigon last June 10, 2005. Padrigon committed moonlighting offense punishable by termination of his contract. Nissan Manila exhibited to “Bitag” the written confession of Padrigon but “Bitag” covered up Padrigon to protect his integrity.
2. Nissan Manila admitted using “surplus” parts but SELECTIVELY, only to customer’s who prefer cheaper repair cost. Therefore, these were with prior approval of the customer and insurance, as well.
3. “SURPLUS” parts are NOT FAKE. Contrary to the false accusation of “Bitag”, surplus parts are genuine second hand parts of good quality. We exhibited to “Bitag” supporting documents such as invoices of surplus body parts purchased from a legitimate source in Banawe.
Mr. Tulfo’s continuous arrogance and partiality not only on his “Bitag” show but also to his other media exposures is meant to destroy and damage Nissan Manila’s business reputation.
OT: grabe na talaga ang kultura natin. i have heard of these journalists committing acts of extortion in order to get what they want. some of these are psuedo journalists or broadcasters who buy airtime from a radio station and then use the media for their own selfish ends. i heard that the reason why a lot of people do not trust noli de castro was, and is, because he used his MGB program for the same selfish purpose
Casas are just talyers. Masyado naman glorified ang tingin ng iba dito sa mga ito. There is nothing wrong with using a surplus part as long as all parties are amenable. Bakit naman nila irerefer sa labas kung pwede naman sila kumita diba?
The point here is that the customer must give his consent, whether to save some bucks, to save some time because said parts are coming from hamamatsu or hiroshima or for whatever reason.
Kung sinabihan siya na OEM sabay pinalitan ng surplus, obviously, ibang usapan yun.
sa tingin ko may pagkakamali talaga ang nissan manila dahil the footages show na nagsorry talaga sila and like many have said, hindi lang sila ang gumagawa nito. on the other hand, IMO, may truth din ung rumors tungkol sa gawain ni tulfo, kahit si kabayan noli yan din ang reklamo sa kanya. face it, we live in a very corrupt country where we, the poor consumers, suffer the consequences. kanino ka pa magtitiwal?
sharing ... when i brought my lil car at Honda Alabang for 1ktm PMS, pagkuha ko late afternoon I did not notice napalitan na ng black plastic yung silver metal caps ng mga gulong (pang hangin). i did not buy a new set and brought it for next 2 PMS like that.
ayun, di naman ninanakaw ng mga mekaniko.
OT: recent bad experience with Honda Alabang. the SMS service? it's a big BS ... when you are out of country and they send you an update via SMS, they don't care if you receive it or not. sige lang sila with what they they do to your car.
i hope sila isunod ni Tulfo ... leche flan sila, lilipat na ako sa Honda Makati or Shaw.
