No offense to uniformed personnel on this forum.

I'd just like to ask if the procedure for a routine traffic stop by PNP personnel has changed in the past few years.

My uncle (an official from the D.I. at Camp Crame) said back then that the procedure is similar to what is being done in the U.S., meaning the vehicle is pulled over to the side of the road, police vehicle stops behind vehicle being pulled over.

Then the police officer ALIGHTS FROM THE POLICE VEHICLE and assess the situation and proceeds to the driver of the other vehicle to inform him of the reason for the traffic stop. Driver asked to maintain hands on steering wheel and front passenger (if present) maintains hand on dashboard).

The reason I'm asking is I've been seeing a lot of traffic stops in my area wherein the Police motion the driver (in a somewhat rude way, like calling a dog) to alight from his vehicle and proceed to the police vehicle on foot while the police officer remains in the police vehicle at all times.

Is this a new procedure or bawal na ba maarawan at mainitan ang kapulisan?
