Late post, but I had the worst week of car driving experience in my entire 14-years of driving during the Ramadan weekend a couple of weeks back.

The day before holiday (which was a Thursday), I had my first accident with my 1-month old car (buti nalang kakakuha ko lang ng license plates ko that week kung hindi mas hassle pa). A motorbike shifted to my lane approaching the Shaw-Edsa flyover (heading towards C5), tapos biglang gumewang yung bike nya and stopped at the middle of my lane... several jeepneys were unloading passengers just before the flyover so I couldn't shift lanes to the left anymore kaya napa-todo brake ako and I was driving about 60-70 then so medyo mabilis narin ako... Fortunately hindi ko sya naabutan, by less than a foot siguro. But unfortunately, another motorcycle seemed to be driving fast also hit me at the back. What resulted was a huge dent in the trunk, broken right tail lamp, misaligned bumper with deep scratches. The guy who hit me flew from his bike and landed on the road a few feet away from his bike.

Maayos kausap yung dalawang motor at yung traffic enforcer na umasiko nung una. The driver admitted that it was really his fault and kept saying sorry. Gustong gatungan yung motorbike driver na delihensyahan ako because yung motor daw yun nasaktan. WTF!!! Maybe he saw that the car was fairly new and I was dressed in business attire kaya kala nya mapeperahan nya ako. Well, it ended up okay kasi hindi naman nagpasulsol yung motorbike driver and I got the police report and left.

Two days after, I was driving in edsa with the same car when the L200 in front of me lost his hubcap and it rolled towards my car. Buti nalang nakaiwas talaga ako at hindi maraming kotse sa edsa that time so I could brake and shift lanes agad. Laglag nanaman puso ko nun kasi either further damage yun to my front bumper or I would've gotten a flat tire.

The next day (Sunday), I ran an errand and somewhere in the Fairview-Regalado area, I heard a weird noise coming underneath my car. It came on and off for a couple of minutes then I decided to stop and take a look. There was a small piece na yero na bumutas sa rear tire ko. I didn't notice it was flat because it really didn't affect my steering that bad. I quickly changed the tire at nung nasa loob na ako ng kotse, I grabbed the alcohol to clean my hands only to notice that one of my fingers was bleeding quite bad. Natapyas ng medyo malaki yung balat ko (about push pin size where the deepest portion was scooped mga 1-2mm deep) without me even noticing. ...tingin ko natapyas yun when I was folding up the EWD kasi sharp yung aluminum ng EWD na nagamit ko.

Tapos nung napa-vulcanize ko na yung gulong, i found out na hindi na sya highly usable kaya pang spare ko nalang talaga sya kasi I ran flat on it for a while, at dahil medyo sa gilid ng gulong pumasok yun yero, may konting umbok na sa side wall nung matapos syang ma-vulcanize.

Haaaay... kung minamalas ka naman talaga.

Pag minalas nga naman Sir pero okey pa rin at least not a major accident/s.

What happen to your car now, dinala nyo na ba sa Casa to check for repair?

Yun gulong mo, suggest ipon for a new one.
Tire w/ sidewall tears don't last long.

The flat happened to us as well. For some unknown reason, it wasn't the part that had contact with the ground that was punctured, but right at the corner of the side wall and the tread. The tire was still vulcanized but I was already warned that I shouldn't run it at high speeds anymore. In other words, I have to use my spare as my everyday tire and my former tire as my spare which, though it has a proper rim, is probably little more than a donut tire because of its previous puncture.

Di ata kayo compatible ng new car mo.

One of the reasons why I don't like using those metal EWDs. Another is the weight.

I use collapsible road cones. Each of my cars have two cones.

Di talaga maiiwasan mga ganyan. Consider yourself still lucky kase yung sasakyan ko na-Ondoy on its 2nd month at mas masakit e walang AOG ang insurance.

*GH: I like those cones... naaalala ko ang Toy Story. Matignan nga sa ACE. ;)

*xtremerider & cathy: Marami nga nagsabi na magpabasbas daw ako but never ko kasi ginawa yun in all my years of driving. Never din naman kasi nangyari sa akin yung ganitong dire-direchong malas... siguro it was a freaky weekend lang. Siguro it won't hurt din to have it blessed if I can find the time.

*bwiseat: na-Ondoy din kami dati pero may AOG insurance naman yung car ko (yung sa mga kapatid ko ang wala), pero binenta ko narin yung dating ride ko (but it wasn't as new na as it was your car nung nalubog sya -- at hanggang mid-thigh lang yung baha sa amin nung nag-Ondoy). My friend got his then 3-month old X3 submerged nung time ng Ondoy, may something na tumama sa windshield nya kaya may malaking butas sa windshield nya mga 6-inches in diameter... kaya feeling ko kahit papano swerte parin kami nun nung nag-Ondoy.

It's heavy enough to stay put in a strong wind, just short of the jet-wash you get when a 747 lands behind you.

    ...

My worst driving-related week ever
