first of all, to simply let one party give their side of the story would result in a biased story as what happened. Very few people would admit that they're wrong especially when they know they can get away with it.
Another thing, Ina's reasoning that she had a difficult pregnancy is just an excuse. But i highly doubt it that she would expend the effort of even talking to the police. i suspect it was the driver who made the story. why tell the truth when there is nobody to correct you when you're the one who did the wrong thing? Ethics? Ethics and integrity are in short supply in the Philippines.
