Itigil muna yung paggamit ng cellphone sa kalsada bago niya huhulihin mga cellphone snatcher.

Kung hindi titigil yung drivers sa NO LOADING zone lahat ng pasahero e pupunta sa tamang sakayan.

This only shows na Matigas Talaga Ulo ng mga Pinoy!

contrary to what silver_corolla posted, MMDA will NOT throw wet rags at jaywalkers.

they will attach wet blankets on the sides of their vehicles. they will first warn the pedestrians, then "swipe" the road. if the pedestrian gets hit, sorry for him/her. if he gets back on the road after the vehicle passes, the MMDA personnel will apprehend him for jaywalking.

    MMDA gets wet and wild

STAY in designated areas or risk getting wet courtesy of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

MMDA Chair Bayani Fernando yesterday announced that the agency would be using rags to wet and discourage pedestrians from blocking the roads and causing traffic jams.

Fernando said blanket-sized rags would be hung "like flags" on the agency's vehicles, which would be deployed on Metro Manila's main roads.

Road discipline "This is a way to discipline pedestrians who refuse to abide by road rules," Fernando said in a phone interview.

He explained, "These pedestrians have become increasingly hardheaded, even occupying as much as two lanes of major roads like Marcos Highway."

However, this wet solution is only part of a heightened MMDA campaign against pedestrians who use the roads instead of sidewalks.

The MMDA chair said he already directed the agency's traffic enforcers to arrest and cite violators for jaywalking.

Fine and a lecture Aside from paying a P100 to P200 fine, which is determined by the local government unit, jaywalkers are gathered in prison vans where they are given a lecture on road rules.

Violators are also made to render community service.

The MMDA chief said he had issued a directive to the agency's traffic enforcers to strictly abide by the "about-face policy."

With the policy, enforcers are directed to focus on the pedestrians instead of the motorists.

"We have forgotten that people, by blocking the roadways, cause more disorder on the streets than the motorists themselves," Fernando said.

kulang ito... hindi ma-gets ng marami ang BAWAL MAG-JAYWALKING... siguro for the short term eto munang rag throwing para naiintindihan talaga...

Dapat lang talaga mahiya ang taong nag-jaywalk. Nakakainis lalo na yung meron overpass tapos dun pa sa kalsada sa ilalim mismo tumatawid... lintik naman talaga!

I agree with you that nakakainis talaga ang jaywalkers kasi wala sila sa lugar kung tumawid at sagabal sa motorista. But, I'm only looking at it from the point of legality. Walang existing ordinance which gives the MMDA the power to impose this kind of punishment on pedestrians. If you look at the nature of police power as it is exercised by the state or its agencies, they are either to apprehend and detain, seize and confiscate or impose fines.

What foresee is that i-iwas or i-ilag lang ang mga jaywalker dun sa wet rag. But, if you throw them in jail overnight and impose a huge fine (say P5,000/violation) with subsidiary imprisonment if unable to pay, talagang magtatanda yang mga yan. The only way they can get out is by paying the fine, and even then, kung weekend or gabi at walang office ang government, that's another night in the slammer. :evillaugh
