Just saw the news. There's a new regulation issued by MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando stating that changing a flat tire along major thoroughfares, esp EDSA, is now prohibited. Changing of flat tires and minor repairs can only be done in the emergency bays located at selected sites at the center island. According to Fernando, "Sira na naman yang gulong mo kaya i-running flat mo na. Nanghihinayang ka lang naman palitan yan e. Palitan mo na yan, tapon mo na."

Huh?!

Kahit from innermost lane to side of the road aabot naman yun without permanent damage. Unless siguro you are part of the 'cool' crowd wearing blings or something.

1km na ata ang pinakamalayo kong tinakbo on a flat tire.

I suppose tama lang naman na itabi mo sa emergency bay (e-bay?!) yung oto in the event of a flat tire. That's what they're there for anyway.

Change your tires in a safe place, that is sa service/emergency lane ng highway. It's ok naman run flat yan, minsan nga di mo pansin flat kana until a fellow motorist points it out to you, just go slow and avoid turning your wheel sharply in any direction.

Let's face it there are motorists that keeps on using their bald tires and changing it only when the inner tread is visible.
