not all such vehicles are products of "kurakot". most are due to misplaced government sense of value and delicadeza

an example: some months back, the new presiding justice of the court of appeals was castigated by the new supreme court chief justice (panganiban) for refusing to avail of the PHP 2M ++ car allowance. the CA presiding justice opted to use his personal battered korean van rather than parade around in a new PHP 2M vehicle courtesy of the taxpayers money. panganiban said that its a must that this CA justice should get a new car kasi stature is important

i admire that presiding justice and have nothing but less than printable words for this SC chief justice due to that incident

in my books, the CA presiding justice earned more stature for what he did

Why, I have seen red plates on two fat-gas-guzzling Lincoln Town Cars, both in white and black. I have also seen a couple of Ford Expeditions with red plates (previous body). The X-Trail is a remarkable improvement by their spending standards.

Red plate so goverment-owned vehicle at tayo and nagbabayad niyan. Hindi kasali ang sweldo dyan.

Tama si 111prez, baka wrong priority ng goverment agency.

    IMO...

we are always too fast to judge people without even getting their side of the story.

what if the said vehicle belongs to an agency that is an income generating agency (like BSP, GSIS, SSS, PAGCOR, etc.)? doesn't top government employees deserve some form of privelege also? in the private sector, we expect a car plan at least for a managerial position. in the government, the privilege to use of vehicle starts only at the director position. if the government at least doesn't match the going rate in the industry then they'll lose some of their best people working for them.

though there are still some bad eggs out there but refrain from generalizing all government officials as such.

There should be a value limit when it comes to government cars. If a certain government employee wants a more expensive vehicle, he should just buy his own. The red platers are supposed to be service vehicles only - entailing no vanity whatsoever.

It's better to keep things uniform, regardless whether or not a certain department is income-generating. It's bad enough we don't get to know where our taxes go in the first place.

Hold on guys. Red plates are supposedly "for official use only", which means you can't take it to the mall on a weekend. I think car-as-a-benefit for employees should be green plated.
