Smog test every two months? Daig pa niya ang U.S. niyan! hehehe. Once a year ang pinakamadalas sa kanila AFAIK.

Ako, I don't like bringing my vehicle sa Makati - even on a weekend - if I can help it. It's not that takot ako sa mga MAPSA na yan: it's just that ayoko ng hassle. Minsan nga, mas hassle makipag-usap sa mga yan kaysa mga taga MMDA.

However, like the MMDA people most of us here like to bash all the time, hindi naman lahat ng MAPSA folks eh arogante at mahirap kausap.
yung MAPSA na kilala ko na ok ay bilang lang sa iisang kamay ko. (sorry, but i'm just telling the truth).

Now, if they say na kailangan ng every 2 months to test for smoke emission, please show some documentation!

The officer's name who told us about it is Victor Lopez

Both - AFAIK eh sinabihan sya na may ganitong requirement tapos mag-random check na nga daw ang taga MAPSA. Ayaw ng aberya nung expat naming senior director dun so ang pinapa emission test na nila every 2-3 months.

Its not farfetched that the MAPSA boys will require you to have your emission test administered in Binay and crony owned testing centers in Makati while those tests conducted outside Makati shall not be honored.

As for B, according to some sources, is terminally ill.

    Mga engot na MAPSA

The traffic light at the intersection of Gil Puyat and Bautista in Makati isn’t working properly (the yellow and green lights are busted). Some motorists find themselves in the middle of the intersection when the red light comes on, catching drivers off guard. Next thing you know, a bunch of traffic enforcers come out of nowhere, pulling these cars to the side of the road and issuing tickets for running a red light.

Years ago I made a U-turn at the corner of Pasay Road and Amorsolo. I was coming from Makati Cinema Square. There was no "No U Turn" sign in place. I was pulled over for the reason that my U turn may be a dangerous move for other motorists. A few weeks later, a tv program featured this anomaly of Mapsa on that very spot.

generally, "if it is not prohibited by signage, it is allowed."
"what the law does not prohibit, it allows."

    hindi.
pina-alis ako. or rather, nilayasan nila ako. they just walked away, ni ha, ni ho.

years ago, in the same corner.
i made a left turn, from bautista to westward buendia.
sinita ako ng dalawang makati TEs whose prowl car was parked just before the tulay.
"sir, may karatula po doon. bawal kumaliwa."
"talagah? wala naman last week, a (which is true). hindi ko nakita karatula. tingnan natin."
hayun. may karatula nga. it was several meters in, at the inner corner of the pedestrian curb triangle, partly hidden by other signage and a poste ng road names.
i straighted them, "sinong naglagay ng karatulang yan? parang sinadyang itinago para may ma-sita kayo?"
    they let me go.
weeks later, the sign was re-positioned to the front.
a few weeks more, and the sign dis-appeared.

there is an international guidebook regarding road signage, of which our country is a signatory. among its more salient points, is that signage must be prominent and not difficult for the target motorist to see and understand. even the proper positioning of said signage are indicated. i believe non-compliance to these guidelines, may be used as argument in traffic court.

as an aside, this particular neighborhood is strategic, because it straddles coding-lenient pasay and coding-strict makati. it is also a gateway to nearby manila (sa dulo sa may arellano at st benilde).
pag-tawid kasi ng tulay a few meters down the road from the intersection, ay safe ka na sa pasay.
maraming coding motorists ang dumadaan dito.
