I used the NLEX yesterday and noticed violators of this rule. Despite the number and size of the signages, this rule is grossly disregarded by some drivers. Even some slow moving vehicles were keeping on this "overtaking only" lane.

I wish NLEX would strictly enforce this rule - just like the "speed limits" rule. Otherwise, just remove the signages.

By the way, I do obey this and other traffic rules.:drive1:

I am guilty at times (but I drive fast, so I am overtaking most of the times.... hehehe)

But after I read the posts here, am more aware now....

Kailangan pa bang i-memorize yan? yup, i do. And all of the traffic rules that i am aware of.

ANd there's a lot of these pasaway in NLEX. This hi-way is complete with signages bot written in tagalog and english. I just don't know why there exists a lot of idiots.

This should be super-imlemented by the authorities of the highway to teach drivers how to use the highway. They should even add this to the seminars taken on LTO.

    dapat slowpokes keep right...

Most of the time I do. But sometimes crusing at 100-120kph, meron na bigla nasa likod mo, even then, if there is enought distance I switch over to the right lane. Yung iba kasi sa right lane na kaagad mag overtake. so I switch to the right after they have overtaken me.

I do.

Do you think people follow the rule here in the US din? No!

People usually cram into the 1st lane and make the 2nd lane even faster. Here the highways can be 4 lanes wide, the trucks stay on the 3rd lane limited to 55mph (90kph) while the ones entering and exiting the highway stay on the 4th lane. Any vehicle towing anything stays on the 3rd lane. Kapag holidays you'll see pick up trucks hauling boats, a trailer dolly with ATV's, etc.

I usually stay in the 2nd lane na, pero sometimes the first lane will be faster, sometimes the 2nd lane, so whichever is faster dun ako sasabay. Even the CHP doesn't mind as long as you're going with the flow of traffic. That is the safest rule here, basta go with the flow ka, kahit above the speed limit ok lang.

I mean one time we were all driving 70-80mph and this CHP unit silently shot past us all. Silang lahat bumagal bigla (it's true, that happens!!) to 65ish (the legal speed limit) but the CHP unit didn't care, tuloy tuloy lang siguro may urgent situation. Anyway, when he was gone, I noticed the cars speed up ulet back to 80

I don't know about NLEX and perhaps Coastal, but this is impossible to do along SLEX and Edsa. Everybody wants the passing lane. But does he actually pass? Of course not! So the rule becomes, keep right to overtake.

minsan may ubod ng bagal sa leftmost lane eh 55 kph ang takbo niya. flash my headlight and honk my horn (nun deadma niya yun headlight ko) for him to let me pass eh ang tigas talaga so ako nalang nag pass sa kanya. eh medyo may toyo ako so i went infront of him ang slow down to his speed. hehehe ang loko siya naman ang nag headlight and bumusina. then a big road sign came "use leftmost lane for overtaking" ata. sabay turo ko sa kanya. then I sped off. nakita ko from the rear view mirror lumipat na siya sa middle lane. sa ko kay tess tignan mo yun bopols na yan di ata marunong magbasa, to which she replied, "hindi nag exit na siya sta. rita....ngek nag swerve papunta sa exit!!!! anyway, ingats na alng mga peeps. anticipation is the key. if you are gonna use the right lane for passing make sure the vehicle on your left knows what you are doing by flashing your headlights and honking your horn.

I do whenever traveling back and forth between Tucson AZ and Reno NV. Like many here, I choose to stay at the middle lane, if possible, and set the cruise control to 75mph/120kph.

When we went to Vegas, I noticed that people follow the rule too. But most often within the state highways, especially pag maraming tao, people take the leftmost lane and stay there. It's like the in-state highways are comparable to EDSA while the interstate highways are like the N/SLEX.

yes. i always do. but under some circumstances, i'm being forced to go faster on the outermost lane because most motorists don't care to cruise on legal speed limit on the other inner lanes. imagine hogging the overtaking lane at 50 km/h wherein the minimum speed limit was 60 km/h?! also, at times, i'm forced to run beyond the maximum speed limit of 100 km/h because, some motorist even dare to race you while you are in the process of overtaking. d*mn it. but once i got ahead, i go the outer lane safely and back to the speed limit.

I obey the keep right rule at NLEX.

I have a question though: What if you're overtaking a long series of trucks or other vehicles (e.g. 6 vehicles) and it will take you approximately 10 seconds to overtake each vehicle. Do you

    a) keep the left lane until you are through overtaking all vehicles, or
    b) move to the right lane after overtaking each vehicle and only return to the left lane when you are very close to the next vehicle you want to overtake?

I often stick with option "a," unless there is a much faster vehicle breathing down my tailpipe, in which case, I let it pass first before resuming my overtaking maneuver.
this remains to be relative on the situation. me, i'd choose the a) when the vehicles that i'm about to pass were tightly grouped. yet, i read somewhere that b) is the proper way to do it. all and still it is relative to the situation at hand and your discretion.

yap i always follow this rule (NLEX & SLEX)..

hangga't hindi nagiging malaking issue to, hindi ito papansinin ng mga nagpapatrol along slex or nlex. hay driving along our expressways is so stressful.

Keep Right except to Overtake - Do you obey this?
