This is because of the daytime running lights that now come standard with some models. It runs at around 80% of the high beam intensity so as to be visible in daytime.

HOWEVER, some stupid bikers don't turn on the light switch (which turns on the instrument lamp, taillamps, and the normal low beams) when the sun sets.

    Are there any rules regulating:

    1) what your factory headlights can be replaced with, and

    2) how many and what kind of extra lights can be installed in addition to the factory headlights?

For example, if you installed extra lights on every inch of your front roofline, not to mention every inch between the two factory headlights, like on 'rally' cars, would that be legal? Is a permit needed?

Local regulations only stipulate that you can add auxillary lamps at or below the level of the headlamps. Other than that it's a free for all.

But that doesn't mean you can be a total moron on the road.

There is also such a thing called courtesy.

Technically, you can replace your headlamps with almost anything as long as you use the proper equipment and do proper instillation procedures (e.g. correct aiming, correct housing type for bulb type used, etc.).

Yup. Yan rin nga ang pagkaka-alam ko. Walang low at high beam yung mga jeepney kaya isa lang ang direksyon ng headlights which is naka-bright and nakaka-silaw sa kasalubong. I think this is also one of the reasons kung bakit nakapatay minsan ang headlights ng jeep... napapansin ko kasi ito doon sa may amin... minsan pag may nakaka-salubong ako na ibang jeep na naka-bright pinapatay yung headlights as a courtesy para hindi kami masilaw. I think this is their way of a low-beam kaso lang nga mahirap naman sila makita pag ganito.... it's either masisilaw ka o hindi mo naman sila makita...

In fairness, some jeepneys switch them off kapag nakapila sa traffic and they can see na sakto sa interior ng kotse yung mga ilaw nila.

Yung iba pag nakatutok tapos di pinapatay, I move the rearview mirror para magreflect sa kanila. Ayun pinapatay na pagkatapos. Then adjust ulit.

Ang problem lang talaga sa headlight adjustment, especially in new cars, is that they're hard to find (yung adjusting bolts). Minsan nakatago sa fender like our Jazz, I had to remove the front wheel plastic liner para ma-access yung bolt. The foglights were easy to adjust, though. Dati nakatutok sa windshield ng ibang tao, napansin ko so I adjusted them kagad. I think that's why headlights aren't adjusted well dahil parang hassle masyado, lalo na sa mga taxi or those who don't really own the vehicles.

meron naman, problema nga lang minsan, sobrang busy sa pagkwenta ng sukli, pag tanggap ng bayad, pag abot ng sukli, yung iba naman insensitive lang talaga kaya ganun.

Idiots with super bright lights
