    RIP to the kids.

BTT: Hyundai is not at fault here, they sell cars not tanks. Kahit Benz pa yan. (example: Princess Diana accident)

Pero, malamang may buhay pag Benz at naka seatbelt ... IMHO

I blame the past village association for the accident.

Because they had nothing better to do with their money, they decided fix a thing that wasn't broken.

    Those are the village humps.

The humps used to cover the whole width of the streets, however, some smarty pants "I'm smart because I'm rich" whoever decided that they want to improve the humps because they were "redundant", the result, one lane only humps!

Yes, they are redundant, and no, the idea was not for ambulances but to eliminate the redundancy. In hindsight, redundancy was a lot better than tempting drivers to zigzag to avoid having to slow down.

I mean c'mon, let's admit it, given the chance we will avoid those humps and do the zigzag ourselves! I see drivers in AAV do it all the time!!

I suggest that they return the redundancy of the humps at Acacia and Madrigal!

Humans make bad decisions, sometimes you just have to force them physically not to, and in hindsight, the humps of old really did serve their purpose well.

RIP to the kids. And how were they able to buy alcohol at 7-11 in the first place?? There are two 7-11s, I suspect they drank at the 7-11 in Molito. We should start implementing the ID system here to make it harder for teenagers to buy alcohol. It might be useless since kids will find a way to obtain alcohol, but it least just make it a little harder...

Note: Before they implemented the speed limit, you used to see total wrecks inside the village, one was even on top of a tree. After implementation, the drivers became more disciplined and there were hardly any accidents. But this is probably the worst accident that happened inside, all because they decided to make one lane only humps!

    ^ 50% lang ang humps?

ngayon lang ako nakarinig ng ganyan ah.
dapat di na lang naglagay ng humps, kung kalahati lang.

This was supposedly to aid the ambulances rushing from the village clinic, allowing for them to accelerate quicker (since many intersections on the main roads have humps before and after the intersection).
The wide main roads also give a false sense of security.

I myself am guilty of slaloming through half humps when it's clear. What some places do to avoid this is to put barriers inbetween the humps. You'll see this near St. Paul Pasig and in Greenmeadows before.

Yes, definitely the fact that it involved children from well-to-do families and that it happened inside a exclusive village is what made it really more newsworthy.

Then you will start seeing accidents involving cars hitting these Barriers.

When you put humans in any operation, accident will happen.

18 yrs old yung isa sa kanila, which i guess is already the legal age to buy alcoholic drinks.

    ^ Correct.

And it's not hard to obtain alcohol especially if you look a lot older than 18. Kahit 16 ka pa, basta mukha ka matanda makakabili ka.

Aren't the kids high when they drove? Just suspecting since it's not unusual to see kids smoking pot nowadays.

My condolences to the families left behind.

The 'half' humps of Ayala Alabang Village have speed bumps about the height of the hump in the middle approaching the humped portion of the road. It was designed in such a way that if you try to 'cheat' and swerve to the flat portion towards the left hand side, your car would hit those 'speed bumps' causing damage to your wheels or the underside of your vehicle. Unfortunately in some areas, these 'speed bumps' have crumbled from weathering and cars accidentally hitting them.

Ayala Alabang's humps are the 'flat' kind of humps. It was designed really to slow you down. Unlike those chunky humps in other gated villages where you really need to shift to first to go over them. I've seen chauffeur driven cars jump over these humps running over the village speed limit. If you drive over 100 kph, going over those humps would feel like those bridge transitions in SLEX.

Definitely, the kids (may they rest in peace) were driving way above 100 kph to cause the car to be nearly sliced in half and for the kids to be thrown out of the vehicle like that.

Full sized humps would not have stopped speeding. Back in high school, I saw many people go too fast over those humps. Hit a hump like that at over 100 km/h and even the tiniest bit of steering input will make the car's rear end step out when it comes off the ground.

The point is: They were driving way too fast for the conditions, and paid the price. Kawawa lang yung mga pasahero, because they had no say in how the car was driven.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
