In hindsight, i'm thankful that deal we had to get the 200sx when i was in 4th year HS/1st year college fell through (in turn, i ended up with my trusty pick-up for most of my college life). Given my driving skills and immaturity at that time i would have most likely crashed that tail-happy vehicle, big time.

I'm thinking the parents may have allowed their kids to drive around freely and go gimmik alone with the car at that time since they thought being inside the confines of AAV would keep them from doing anything harmful. That's a false sense of security as heck, even in my village where there's hardly any straightway to take your usual 1.6 to 2.0L beyond 60kph unless you drive real hard and run your car through the humps, there have already been some fatal crashes (yes, teenagers too).

High school lang daw mga toh, malamang wala pang license, kung meron man, student's lang, bawal parin yun. Tapos driving while under the influence pa, tapos going above 40 sa loob ng subdivision. Baka poste pa yung sisihin.

I wonder why teenagers really want speed? Makakarating din naman sila sa destination nila kahit hindi nila i race ang engine. Tsk!

It's about the adrenaline rush. Especially for kids brought up on Fast and the Furious.

Ironically, the reason why our glands are producing adrenaline is because its sensing danger.

    coz it's fun

and when you're with your friends it's even more fun

pag sinabihan ka pa ng "sige nga tingnan natin gaano kabilis car mo"... recipe for disaster talaga

    Famous last words indeed.

And it's true where things just seem soo slow and you remember almost every millisecond as you TRY to brake a car that's out of control, before the impact and that scary silence within right after. What really hit me was two things:
    - I learned how it was to have no control over the car.
    - I almost killed my closest friends. Just imagine my thoughts when i was at their weddings and the baptisms of their kids years later. Things that could have never been because of me being stupid at the wheel of a car.

don't we all? aminin natin, kahit bulok na sasakyan there will always ba a time na susbukan natin ang speed limit nito or papatulan ang hirit ng barkada, pano pa kaya kung brand new car? it's just the timing and lack of good judgement that separates the dead from the living.

Come on! As if you never had that "I am indestructible" mindset when you were younger. Add to that the adrenaline rush when doing dangerous stunts. I was doing basically the same thing when I used to ride my bicycle and trying to pedal as fast as I can (51 kph) or diving from the high platform to the pool below.

Buckle up for safety. They might have lived (though perhaps have been seriously injured) if they had not been thrown out of the car.

From some reports on the scene, the driver was gunning it from the hump at the previous corner (unless he jumped the hump), saw a motorbike exit the townhouse, braked and swerved to avoid hitting the motorbike, lost control and hit the sidewalk on the opposite side, steered trying to regain control and then hit the lamppost.

Acacia Avenue, where the accident happened, is pretty wide. One lane is wide enough to have 2 vans running alongside each other. A row of cars is parked on the right side of the road leading up to the gate of the Townhouse which is what prevented the driver from spotting from afar the exit motorbike.

Whenever I find myself losing my cool behind the wheel remembering this clip somehow helps cool me down:

I remember watching it quite a few times as a kid. A few decades after and it still hits where it matters. Not bad for a Goofy episode

Hehe... i also remember watching this episode as a kid. To think that was done more than a half century ago and yet, some things never change.
