My brother drives a 2nd gen CRV. One day he noticed his temp going to overheat (1st time ever). So before it reached "red", he stopped and let it cool down, then continued. Eventually he got home without reaching "red" (overheat).

He brought it to HONDA SHAW for diagnosis. The casa guys attached the electronic diagnostics and after a while recommended the following under immediate replacements/service:

    -all cooling hoses,(upper/lower radiator hose)
    -radiator fan motor
    -radiator assembly
    -thermostat
    -thermoswitch
    -water pump
-pull down engine/cylinder head for inspection

Ehgwad! Parts alone costs almost P30K.

He later went to Speedyfix for a 2nd opinion on the problem. SF mechanics found a leak in a six inch section of water hose (somewhere on the engine). They had it replaced and the overheat problem is solved.

W.T.F. was Honda Shaw doing? They virtually replaced the entire engine cooling system to fix a leaky radiator hose?!? Hello?!?

It's either tinatamad sila mag-troubleshoot or nanloloko lang sila with all their fancy-shmancy electronic troubleshooting gizmos.

IMO, palibhasa maximizing profits is the name of the game! So baket pa nila pagaaksayahan ng panahon ang pag-troubleshoot kung makakauto naman sila ng customers by saying na these or those parts need to be replaced?

    * ghosthunter: so how much did your brother spend when he went to SpeedyFix?

He didn't mention it when we talked. But how much would a six inch length radiator hose and labor cost anyway?
