Naka tikim rin ng kalokohan si attorney...

MANILA, Philippines - When Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Francis Tolentino warns you about fake traffic enforcers, he knows what he's talking about. On Sunday evening he apprehended one - after the fake officer tried to apprehend him.

Tolentino was on his way to speaking engagement in Manila when his vehicle was flagged down around 6:30 p.m. on Roxas Boulevard by a man wearing an MMDA enforcer uniform, complete with an agency-issued ID.

Turns out the MMDA chairman was stopped by a former traffic aide of the agency, one Edwin M. Vicentino, who had left the institution a year ago.

"Mr. Vicentino has not been reporting for duty since November last year. He was officially dropped from the rolls as of May 1, 2012. What he did was both illegal and unethical," Tolentino told reporters on Monday. "MMDA is very strict regarding these matters and we do not tolerate such behavior from any of our enforcers or employees. Mr. Vicentino, by posing as a figure of authority with malice is tainting the name of our Agency."

The MMDA will be filing usurpation of authority charges against Vicentino.

Tolentino appealed to the public "not to hesitate to contact" the MMDA "if you run into any corrupt enforcers on the road" especially during the Yuletide season. He said the public can report abusive or corrupt traffic officers through the agency's website, metrosolusyon.mmda.gov.ph.

The public can also report through the website citizens caught bribing MMDA employees, laud or commend a good deed of any MMDA enforcer, and suggest concrete solutions to pressing problems in Metro Manila, according to Tolentino. “MetroSolusyon is our appeal to the public to be a part of the process of making Metro Manila a clean and corruption-free metropolis,” the MMDA chairman said.

baka naman publicity stunt lang yan. besides being an attorney, artista yan si Tolentino. I remember him wearing a cast on his arms few days before the motorcycle lane opening, which excused him of riding his motorcycle during the said ceremony. Naaksidente daw sya while cleaning his bike..

Tolentino can easily argue that he has information about a corrupt MMDA enforcer in that area so baited him himself.
