Carjacking Spree Hits QC; 12 Cars Stolen In 12 Days

Police have recorded at least 12 carjacking incidents in Quezon City for the first twelve days of the month, ABS-CBN reported Thursday.

The incidents occurred despite police going on heightened alert status for the May elections.

On Wednesday night, carjackers seized a model 1999 Toyota Prado along Katipunan Avenue. Driver Jeffrey Mendoza said he was driving along Katipunan Avenue when a Mitsubishi Outlander bumped him. He said several armed men got off the vehicle and ordered him out of the Prado. He said the gunmen commandeered the vehicle, leaving him behind.

Before the incident, car thieves also took a Honda Civic parked in front of a building along Congressional Avenue.

The Quezon City police's anti-carjacking unit has been alerted for the recovery of the two vehicles.

    ==================================================

Yung mga taga QC at mga pupunta sa QC, doble ingat po tayo. Nagkalat ang mga carjackers!

    Hi All!

Well, this is a trend that goes with every election.

    They need the money.

This is one good reason to invest in ARB front and rear bumpers, side rails and steps as armor to defend you from minor fender benders.

If you got slightly bumped, you wouldn't have to worry about damage to you.

    :regards:

Of course youre lucky if you get away with your precious rides unharmed but IMO, Best way really is to insure your rigs and just give them what they want.

You and your loved one's rides are more important than your rigs. Claim nyo nalang sa insurance...

Ano bang klaseng sasakyan ang nakawin these days? May pattern ba? That way we could somewhat know what they're after and possibly adapt (by not driving those at night, or changing the car, etc)...just an idea.

imo pwede mo siguro malaman kung cacarjackin ang kotse mo kasi unusual naman yung isang malaking sasakyan na babangain ka nalang bigla sa likod sa gabi pero maluwag naman yung kalye which is the most favorite move of these A$$h*l*s. so just in case mangyri man sakin yun magmasid nalng kung may bumubuntot sa likod at pagsinagi ka, takbuhan mo nalang, i'd rather pay some bucks repairing my rear rather than losing the whole car at mapeligro pa buhay mo at ng mga kasama mo kung meron man. mahirap na taking any chances.

Kung may space na pagtatakbuhan at humarurot bakit hindi di ba? I'm sure yun na lang gagawin ko rin. Kaso my concern is if I do that tapos habulin ako, san ako pupunta? Di pwde umuwi dahil mabubuking ka, if I try to lose him di yon sigurado, if I try to enter a secured village mahirap din yon dahil baka yariin nila yung security and I have no way out...

Where would you go kung ikaw tatakbuhan mo siya?

i remember someone posting the list of "hot" cars before, i hope we see the updated list for 2006

humble input lang po for safety, we have to be alert even in areas which we consider as our "baluarte/territory". i remember that i used to shut off my AC when i hit the last mainroad leading to our home (you know, save on fuel consumption). one time, a motorcycle with 2 peeps tailed my car (i thought at the time) trying to get to the driver's side. gut feel told me to roll up the window immediately and speed up ... i drove through the public market's area just in case they are crooks. thank God, i lost them ...
