How about this for connectivity? The BOC gets computerized but they won't clear your docs for a month unless you 'make' it go faster. Then when your goods go out the door, they then notify the BIR who sends a few men who threaten to audit you unless you pay up simply because your importation is a sign of a prosperous business, regardless of whether you pay legit taxes or not?Once you pay the bribes AND the legit taxes and duties, you then have to compete globally.Ask any business that imports stuff ... this has happened to them for sure ... possibly multiple times.

my father used to import stuff we sell at our store. he gave up importing just because he hated dealing with customs... kahit kumpleto ka sa papeles at tama ang binayaran mo, kulang pa din binayaran mo... or worst pag bukas na ng container kulang na items... then wait a few days may assungot na lilitaw sa tindahan at nag bebenta nung items na nawawala sa amin. kaya mahal goods natin dito kasi kelangan bawiin mga ninakaw sa port.

one time my dad's friend naman nag import din mga items. sabi nung kausap nya punta sa window 5 and give all the papers, pagdating sa window 5 he gives his papers, the man in window 5 takes 1 paper from his papers then tells him go to window 1, pag dating sa window 1 sabi nung mama, saan yung papel na ganito? so he says kinuha nung sa window 5, kunin mo ulit at kelangan yun dito, pag balik sa window 5 wala na yung kumuha ng papel nya. so he complains to window 1 ... ang sabi pede naman daw pagusapan na lang... ayun kukurakutan lang pala sya. he ended up paying the extortionist para lang matapos na at mailabas na yung goods nya.

i agree with sir innova boy po...

if in the first place all of them procured their goods legally then there's nothing the customs officials can do. nuff said.

yes your correct, but when christmas season is fast approaching you dont want your merchandise to be release by January right? and if you do follow what you said that "nothing the customs official can do" well maybe they will release your next shipment maybe christmas 2008 na... That's how it works or forget the import business....
