A Budol Budol Gang member, who posed as a bank employee at the Bank of the Philippine Islands Marikina Branch, robbed Sofhio Peros of $3,000 in cash.
The new Modus Operandi is to have a gang member, usually a woman, pose as a bank employee who befriends a targeted bank customer. The woman will then offer to assist the customer and deposit the money for him/her directly with a teller. While the victim is busy filling out the deposit slip, she will take advantage of this time to switch the envelope containing the cash with an envelope filled with paper, excuse herself to pretend to go back to
work. Or she will simply take the cash while the victim is not looking and leave.
PSA advises bank depositors to be cautious while inside any Metro-Manila bank. Clients should be wary of strangers, bank employee or not, who are too friendly.
"Bungo-Bungo" Gang:
This group usually victimizes lady ! dri vers with new cars.
Modus operandi: The group scouts for potential victims, usually lady drivers. The syndicate identifies and follows the victim. By the time they reach a deserted and remote area, they deliberately crash into the rear end of the victim's car assuming that the victim will stop and inspect the damage.
The syndicate members wait for the victim to approach and confront them about her car's damage. The moment the victim alights from her car, the suspects take the victim's car at gunpoint. At times, if the lady driver is pretty, the syndicate abducts and rapes the victim.
Mighty Bond Gang:
Modus Operandi: The syndicate applies glue to Automated Teller Machine (ATM) command buttons to make them difficult to press. Gangs will also apply glue to the inside of the ATM card slot. Victims attempting to withdraw money find themselves stuck in the command to confirm or cancel a transaction.
A member of the gang then approaches the victim pretending to be waiting in line and offering to help get the card back. At some point the suspect asks the victim to re-enter the PIN Code. When all else fails, the suspect suggests that the victim call the bank's security guard. While away, the suspect extracts the card from the machine and leaves. The syndicate usually operates on Fridays, weekends and during long holidays.
Others:
PSA advises all clients to avoid Quiapo, Manila at night. According to Inspector Alfredo Opriasa, chief of Manila Police Special Investigation Branch, the area is swarming with muggers, and drug addicts. He added that his team arrests at least two muggers a day.
Cellular phone snatchers, who used to operate in the stretch of Taft Avenue to Quezon Bridge, have transferred to Quiapo. These snatchers operate usually during evening hours.
A Filipino businessman and his family were held hostage in their residence along Abad Santos Street, Manila by six armed men. The businessman was about to take his children to school when the suspects stormed into the house as the maid opened the gate. The family was held for a few hours while the suspects ransacked the house and took $4,000 worth of cash and
jewelry, 2 cellular phones and the brand new Honda CRV.
Members of the family told investigators that they had seen some of the suspects hanging around in front of the house for several days prior to the crime.
Be vigilant, you can never be safe even at your own doorsteps.

End result: now only the criminals are able to carry guns, since they don't follow the law in the first place
Tip: when driving, always keep about one car-length of space between you and the vehicle in front of you so that you'll have some room to maneuver in an emergency. Kung talagang di ka maka-abante, crush the bad guy between you and the vehicle to your left/right by turning aggressively to the side where he is. Remember, a firearm can make little holes in a person's body, but two tons of steel pinning you down can really ruin your day ;)
Oh, and yes, make sure you have comprehensive insurance before you do this.
Siguro this will also be a bit of a deterrent dahil di nila alam kung puro lalaki pala ang pasahero, diba they usually choose their victim.
You guys might also want to consider discussing with your family members how they should react in a hostile situation. For example, when you give a pre-agreed codeword (e.g. "DAPA!"), all passengers should crouch to the floor of the vehicle and keep their heads down while you make a tactical, high-speed getaway. Then, conduct drills or exercises every so often to so that the response to the codeword becomes second nature to your spouse/kids.
These safety drills don't have to be reserved for criminal situations only. I strongly advise having ready procedures for other emergencies like fires, attempted break-ins at home, accidents (falling from a high place or getting cut severely), etc.
Like, have you ever discussed with your kids what they should do if a fire breaks out at your house? The first time I asked my kids what they'd do, the said that they'd try to save their toys
