Basic rule: Never leave your kids unattended...Never talk to strangers...

    November 20, 2014 9:34pm

A 14-year-old student survived an apparent kidnapping attempt after her classmate made a scene at an amusement center inside a mall, GMA News' “24-Oras” reported on Thursday.

The incident was caught by the establishment's closed-circuit television camera.

According to the student, a middle aged man and woman approached her at the arcade and introduced themselves as her relatives.

The suspects acted as if they were quite familiar with her and invited her to come with them to exchange some dollars for local currency so she could buy credits for the arcade. They said it was what her grandmother wanted.

But the victim got suspicious when the suspects couldn't say who her grandmother was.

The suspects then started forcing the student to come with them, prompting her classmate to say in a loud voice: “Hindi nga namin po kayo kilala.”

The suspects left hurriedly but added that they would be be back.

The student's father said he would pursue charges against the suspects. —Andrei Medina/NB, GMA News

Good job for the classmate! That is what I always tell my kids, shout their lungs out "Kidnapper! Help!

‘Victims’ surface to tag kidnap suspects in CCTV
    November 21, 2014 8:41pm

Three more victims have surfaced after seeing the "24 Oras" report of a man and a woman, who pretended to be the relatives of a 14-year-old student in an apparent abduction attempt, a report from GMA's “24-Oras” program said Friday.

One of the parents of the newly surfaced victims positively identified the couple as the suspects and said the only difference was the kidnapping attempt was done in a convenience store in Abad, Manila.

She said her daughter was in the vicinity of the convenience store near her school when the suspects forcibly got her bag.

“Hinila sa kanya yung bag by force. Sabi sa kanya 'Dito ka lang mag wiwithdraw lang ako,'” she said.

After one month, the daughter of the her friend was also victimized by the suspects in the same place.

“Lahat ng sabihin sa kanya ng lalaki at babae sinunod na niya tapos may halo pang mga pagbabanta sa kanya na susunod lang siya kung ano sasabihin nila. Ngingiti lang siya wag siyang iiyak,” the mother of the second victim said.

Both victims were able to escape the apparent kidnap try but their possessions worth an estimated P50,000 were stolen.

The parent of a third victim said his 7-year-old child was also victimized by the suspects in an arcade center in Quezon City last June.

“Yun ang intensyon nun talaga. Kasi wala ng ibang intensyon yun bakit niya hihilain ang batang di niya kilala palabas,” he said.

In the earlier newscast, the suspects were shown at an amusement center inside a mall trying to force the 14-year-old victim to come with them.

The victim said the suspects introduced themselves as her relatives but failed to prove this which prompted her classmate to say in a loud voice: “Hindi nga namin po kayo kilala.”

Due to this, the suspects left hurriedly but threatened they would be be back.

The Philippine National Police disclosed that there have been a total of 43 kidnapping cases since January.

“Sa ngayon po sa trend wala pong pinipili 'yung kidnappers ngayon,” Aspera said. “'Yung iba nga diyan hindi 'yan organized [groups].” Supt. Rene Aspera, head of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group said in a press conference on Friday.—Andrei Medina/NB, GMA News

I will make sure they are safe.
