i for one, think those improviced barriers should have warning devices. a lot of those barriers are "experimental pieces" by the mmda of the local government. but most of them lacks the proper warning devices, unlike what you see in other countries. dito nga sa atin, mahina din ang street lights (some places dont even have).

lalo mga improvised bus dividers on national highways. a lot of those are "here today, gone a week after" then suddenly may lalabas ng bago elsewhere.

we are not driving the obstacle courses when driving in manila (actually it is already one) lalo na pag sa mga highway. so if they do think putting up dividers will help the flow of traffic, they do should it properly with reflectors or illuminations.

i dont know why most of you are blaming the drunk, speeding drivers. not all of those involved in hitting the barriers are such. besides, ang mali dun yun mga poorly installed barriers.

Where street lights are concerned, every place should be like Pasig City.

Dun, sobra-sobra naman ang mga ilaw. Parang libre ang kuryente, ah.

at the very least sana maski reflectorized sticker strips dikitan nila ang mga barriers na iyan. at least it will add to its visibility, day or night. mura lang naman iyon kung talagang tight ang budget.

Happened to me once or twice already.

Although, he shouldn't have been going very fast if that were the case, certainly not fast enough for the car to straddle the island.

Delikado naman talaga yan especially sa gabi coz walang light and reflectors man lang. We know naman sa wee hours sa gabi mostly nagi ispeed up na ibang drivers coz less vehicles na.
Or another way din ito ng MMDA para makalikom ng pondo hehehe The more accidents, more paying sa properties nila.Aguy!

Dapat gayahin nila yung sa ayala ave. A few weeks after tinayo yung metal barrier nayupi siya, obviously something big and fast struck it.

There was an 18 wheeler tanker that plowed into the barriers near Santolan around two nights ago.

Concrete, pink fence parts, and truck parts all over the place.

Of course the motorists slowing and stopping didn't help traffic flow either and that was around 02:00 in the morning!

    Be careful guys and gals.

Kanina while traffic (as usuall), nakikinig ako ng AM and na interview si Bayani. Before the barriers ay may solid line imbes na broken white lines.

So they admit they can't really control the bus drivers and have to resort to physical barriers to do so? What's next, spike strips along the yellow solid lines?

They should also amend traffic guidelines to cater to barriers posted since they've drastically changed the way motorists drive. If there is no standard to adhere to, MMDA goons will take advantage of that and motorists will keep plowing into these barriers so we're all left to ourselves and/or each other to drive safely.

ah ive change my mind after reading the comment that i am the only idiot driving fast when it is raining wwssshhhhhhhhh ---love that splash

just think of it this way: it is mmda's way of thanking the motoring public through road surprises---you will never know what you are gonna get!

just think of it as an obstacle in a racing circuit designed to test your nerve and skill as a driver---that is, if you have one. you get minus points if ever you hit one. but if you are stupid enough to hit one solidly---you get a much serious deduction---minus your life

also, watch out for those nasty potholes in edsa . it also has minimal or no warning signs and sometimes if you are lucky it is covered. you also get a minus for that---that is, minus your tire if ever you fall into one. luckily, but then ive heard you get a full refund for the damage incurred for that, again, courtesy of mmda--- just go to the nearest mmda office

OT: bad habit daw yung hawak mo yung kambyo kahit di mo naman gagamitin (resting on gearshift stick)

replace the barrier with permanent concrete wall na lang...

Jersey barriers aren't inherently bad, but the way the MMDA implemented them was missing a crucial feature: The individual concrete blocks are supposed to be connected to each other.

Look at the many examples of EDSA concrete barrier accidents and the common recipe is that after hitting or sliding into the first concrete block, it gets thrown into the adjacent lane and the mishap vehicle continues having a head-on accident with the edge of the next block.

Connecting the blocks together prevents that. When the blocks are connected the line of jersey barriers acts as a single long unit, instead of individual blocks. It becomes a lot less likely to throw a single block into adjacent traffic like a pinball, and the mishap vehicle does not have a head-on accident unless he happens to hit the very first in a line of blocks.

    See video below:
