Now that it's begun to rain, I'd like to create awareness on the proper use of rear fog lamps. Some simply don't have a clue what they are for and just feel the need to use them because they're there.

Remember that fog lamps (front or rear) are to be used only when visibility is very poor or fog is present.

Dusk, dawn, night-time driving, light to medium rain, etc. DOES NOT constitute 'very' poor visibility. If anything, using the rear fog lamps under these conditions makes it worse for drivers behind them as it adds undue light pollution and eyestrain.

    CORRECT usage:

    INCORRECT usage:

Yung iba kasi, they opt to tap the RFL/rear courtesy lamp straight to the park light (i was guilty of this years ago). Best bet is to either have your own switch for it, or to tap it with your front fog light switch at the very least.

And while we're at it... please refrain from using hazard lights when it's raining or foggy.

I'd like to add that I find it really annoying when motorcycles change their rear brake light to a fog or headlight. I do not know why they have to do this except to annoy other motorists.

sa wakas. may nagpost din. wanted to make the same thread sa autoeuropa sana. pero baka magulpi ako doon hehe

madami kasing naka Euro theme na kailangan may rear fog. and they turn this ON all the time para makita nung iba na naka EuDM sila. what they do not understand is that ang sakit nito sa mata. parang naka high beam ka sa sakit sa mata.

please use your rear fog responsibly. (buti wala akong ganyan )

gawain ko rin to kaso pag may kasalubong na, kelangan ko rin mag dim. pero manhid nga sila parang yung mga nakakasalubong mong naka high beam. feeling euro kasi at ang isip nila e kung mas malakas/maliwanag, mas safe (parang mga sablay na HID lang) which is not necessarily true.

I'm guilty on this pero hindi ko siya ginagamit during city driving.

question about front fog lights. since hindi naman sabog ang buga nito, is it ok to use it all the time?

Case-to-case: If it is aimed properly, front fog lights are supposed to have a low and wide beam which should not affect oncoming motorists much.

Ignore you, they will. I gave that guy a few flashes but I guess he didn't know what it meant.

you should have honked your horn till this ignorant driver wakes up on endangering other motorist on the use of his glaring rear fog lights on clear weather...

it is only legal to use the horn to avoid an accident, and this is a impending accident because cars behind him/her is blinded/annoyed of his foolish driving using the rear fog lamps on clear weather...

BTW: welcome to the gates of HELL

    What's new?

It simply goes to show how there are a lot of clowns out there pretending to be expert drivers.

Ideal lang to gamitin sa city kung talagang sobrang lakas ng ulan, instead of using hazard lights which is wrong anyway. Naninilaw ako ng ganito at talagang tinututukan ko, same with sabog HIDs on HLs.

Sayang nga naman raw kung di gagamitin. Eudm yo!

I use this on expressways especially sa two-way Startoll kapag kaunti or ako lang ang nasa daan.

Dapat pag less than 100m nalang visibility bago gamitin ang rear fog. Pag clear and weather, kahit highway/expressway pa yan, dapat hindi ginagamit.

Way back in the 80's, nauso yang flashing strobe light. Once you step on the brakes, the strobe light flashes. Depends on where you put it. If I find a similar item today, I'll retrofit it sa likod ng mga kotse ko.
