Suspected burglars killed five people, including a three-year-old girl, and burned down the victims' home in Quezon City Tuesday noon.

Police identified the child as Nina Giao. Her charred body was found with those of her nanny, identified only as "Marie" and maids named "Lian Gloria", and "Joan."

The child's grandmother, Felicidad Giao, 70, died at the Capitol Medical Center, also in Quezon City.

Investigators said the victims died of stab wounds to different parts of their bodies. The child and the maids were also found hogtied.

Police said they thought the victims died in the fire that struck their home at No. 87, Talayan Street in Talayan Village around noon.

Initial forensic examinations, however, showed that the victims were stabbed to death.

Police said a group of burglars forcibly entered the victims' home. The burglars burned down the house after the heist and then escaped.

A radio dzMM report, meanwhile, said the child's grandfather Geronimo Giao, 86, who was also hurt by the burglars, is now out of danger at the hospital.

The old man told police investigators that he knows one of the burglars, the report added.

Investigations were ongoing as of this posting.
