Motorist roughs up MMDA traffic constable at intersection in QC

(Updated 9:01 a.m.) A Metropolitan Manila Development Authority traffic constable suffered abuse at the hands of a sports car-driving motorist who tried to make an illegal left turn at a busy street in Quezon City Thursday morning.

The motorist, who is now being tracked down, drove a blue sports car without license plates, MMDA enforcer Rodolfo Fernandez told radio dzBB's Allan Gatus.

"Yung (driver ng) sports car gusto kumaliwa sa Quezon Avenue... bawal 'yan. Ginawa namin [kinunan ng] picture ng kasamahan ko para ma-identify. Biglang minasama ng driver, nag-dirty finger siya," Fernandez said.

He said that while they did not pursue the driver, the driver made a U-turn at the intersection and summoned the victim initially identified as Jorby Adriatico.

Fernandez said he then saw the driver yank Adriatico's uniform, punch him in the face, and then accelerated the car without letting the MMDA enforcer go.

"Pagtingin ko hinatak ang damit, tapos kinaladkad. Pinaandar ang sasakyan, kinaladkad habang patakbo ang sasakyan tapos sinusuntok."

Also, Fernandez said the blue sports car had no plates but had a conduction sticker. He did not get the sticker's number, however.

The dzBB report said the MMDA may review closed-circuit television footage in the area to identify the sports car's driver.

In the meantime, the MMDA enforcer was brought to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment.

This was not the first time an MMDA traffic enforcer was assaulted by a motorist.

In 2012, the MMDA lodged a criminal complaint against motorist Robert Blair Carabuena and his brother Robert Benjamin for assaulting constable Saturnino Fabros.

Fabros had accosted Carabuena for a traffic violation but Carabuena allegedly roughed him up.

Some clarification: The driver wanted to make a left from Araneta Ave to Quezon Ave, which is a no no. When he saw the MMDA taking pictures, he desisted and went to the u-turn slot further down Araneta. He made the finger salute when he turned right to Quezon Ave. When he was approached by the MMDA Enforcer and was requested a repeat performance for a phot op, he punched the enforcer and dragged him all the way to Scout Chuatoco(Pegasus corner). The enforcer unfortunately dropped his phone inside the Maserati. The driver had a male companion who pleaded to the driver to stop. When he saw the enforcer bleeding, the driver removed his Celio branded shirt and threw it out. The description of the driver and companion as rich tisoys...

Akala niya siguro hindi siya hahabulin ng TE kasi sportscar. Kung wala naman siyang balak sumunod e tinakbuhan na lang niya; he deliberately stopped, punched and dragged the TE. Baka kargado ang loko kaya bayolente.

Just dreaming out loud: if the guy does get caught, what are the charges that can be filed against him aside from the traffic violation?
Assault? Attempted murder? Then again pera pera lang yan.


It should be easy to trace(assuming it came in legally); not a lot of maserati's running around in MM. Hopefully some CCTVs caught the driver's face.

I would expect that kind of reaction from someone without breeding or class, not from a guy with a Maserati. Then again, money doesn't buy good manners.

looks like a ghibli or ghibli S, won't be hard to find the owner if they really want to since it's still pretty rare in our country plus the color is also rare.

EDIT: ghibli S Q4 pala, from what i know 1 pa lang ang na release nila na ghibli S Q4 na ganyan color and 2 ghibli S. 2 ang shade ng blue ng ghibli yan at mas lighter blue kesa jan which is rarer than the one on the picture. baka yon ang sinasabi ng mmda na 2 pa lang ang na release.
