I'm not a photographer so I don't understand why BGC is popular for taking photos? Is it the wide open spaces?

di ko lang talaga ma gets reasoning nila bakit bawal ang pro shooters. kung di naman nakaka abala sa foot traffic, dapat ok lang eh. may iba kasi na shooters abala talaga, ikaw mahihiyang tumawid sa shoot nila.
What's so great about BGC ? Eh condo dyan sumasabog na lang basta-basta, lugar ng mga magugulong o magscandalong artista.
Kaya nga BGC, Bonifacio Guard Cupal.
On the other hand, BGC gets free publicity when their photos get shared or featured in media; i'm guessing a lot of buildings/malls/etc would kill for that kind of publicity.
Again, pangit tignan pag bastos sumita mga guards. People will start to wonder if they're in a police state.
In the interest of fairness, here's the follow-up to the "BGC is photo-friendly" saga:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theaterSo after that status message I wrote yesterday that kinda went a little viral, the one about the validity of the new "BGC is PHOTO FRIENDLY" sign, I got invited by top people of BGC Operations for a little clarification on this issue.
To start, I would like to commend BGC's Head of Commercial Operations, Mr. Manny Blas II, for apologizing for "screwing this up." They owned-up to this and offered no excuses. The signage in question is his and BGC Manager for Commercial Group Marc Buencamino's initiative. These two gentlemen are also hobbyist photographers. They are aware of the Bawal Mag-Shoot Dito phenomenon that is common in many public places around the country. They wanted BGC to be different. They envisioned BGC as a haven for photography. A place where you can bring any kind of camera and practice photography to your heart's content. That's why the sign was put up - to make an announcement that BGC is PHOTO FRIENDLY. It was a statement. It was also an invitation. BGC is a different place. It is a place for the arts and the artist in everyone.

There are various genres in photography, BGC is conducive for urban landscapes (because of the high-rises) both at daytime and at nighttime (because of the relative security). The open spaces also act as substitute to the limited parks that we have in the metro, so you have people practicing their hobbies like cosplay and fashion photography in the open areas.
I believe the various car clubs also often have BGC as their EB/meetup place, so that counts as another photography genre too.
Happy to see that the folks at BGC acted upon this quickly.
I like shooting in BGC at night because it's vast, empty, safe, and near our house. Not many urban places where I can prop my tripod on a sidewalk and not have it snatched.

i was thinking more along the lines of social media/going viral:
- guy goes out, takes a random pic at BGC, posts on FB/Twitter
- friends see pic, find out it's in BGC, goes there(not just to take more random pics)
By the nature of it, i don't think you can get a permit in advance.
Anyways, they've clarified so phone/point-and-shoot/DSLR cameras are ok; just hope the guards know this too.
