Hindi pala hit and run.
A female Thai national, who was reportedly pregnant, was hit by a speeding SUV as she was crossing a busy intersection at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City before noon Tuesday, police said.
Photos of injured Jecinta Coote, a BGC resident, had spread on social media after a black Toyota Fortuner bearing a plate number of AAL 6646 run over the 34-year-old victim. The incident happened around 11:15 a.m. on the corner of 30th Street and 2nd Avenue.
Before the SUV driver, who was identified as Rolando Manese, a resident of Paco, Manila, struck the pedestrian, he hit another Toyota Fortuner, which bore an NMI 615 plate, driven by Anne Alison Soriano.
Contrary to reports, Senior Superintendent Arthur Felix Asis, Taguig City Police chief, said in a phone interview with INQUIRER.net on Wednesday, the incident was not a hit-and-run case.
Asis said the SUV driver stayed on the scene after the accident and negotiated with the victims.
According to a Top Gear report, witnesses on the scene said Coote was pregnant.
“Right now the victim’s husband is talking with the traffic investigator at the Taguig Traffic Enforcement Unit to discuss the complaints he would file against the driver,” Asis said.
Taguig rescue personnel brought Coote to St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City for treatment. Asis said the victim is still being treated in the hospital. CC

May 13th, 2015 06:03 PM #33hmm, the article says the driver stayed on the scene and negotiated with the victims...yet the only people i see near the lady was that traffic enforcer, the foreign lady, and the older lady. Kaya akala ko nung una hit and run.
Maganda nga siguro to check the cctv and determine what speed he was going. It takes a lot of force to flip an SUV..Last edited by badkuk; May 13th, 2015 at 06:07 PM.

There will always be drivers like this one. Perhaps the pedestrian crosswalks could use speed bumps.

According to a report from the Southern Police District, the incident happened at the corner of 2nd Avenue and 30th Street at about 11:20 am on Tuesday.
The SPD identified the injured pedestrian as Thai national Jecinta Coote, 34, of Penhurst Condominuim, Crescent Park, BGC.
Police said prior to the incident, the black Toyota Fortuner driven by Rolando Manese, 54, of Paco, Manila, was travelling along 30th Street from the Fort Palm Spring building and was headed toward the C5 Road when it hit another Toyota Fortuner (NMI-615) driven by Anne Alison Soriano, 35, a resident of the Forbeswood Parklane condominium, the BGC.
Initial investigation showed that as Soriano’s Fortuner was on 2nd Avenue heading towards the 32nd Street from the Burgos Circle and was nearing the intersection when it allegedly hit the right rear fender of the speeding Fortuner driven by Manese.
Police said the impact of the collision caused Maneses’s Fortuner to fall on its side and then hit Coote who was just about to cross the street.
Police said investigation showed that both Manese and Soriano have failed to observe safety precautions while entering the intersection, causing the accident.

Mukhang kasalanan ng 2 SUV at na hagip lang yung pedestrian sa banggan. Sana makulong yung 2 driver, di lang mawalan ng lisensya.
