Would just like to share to all. A couple of my friends have been victimized by robbers (seemingly using some glass cutter).

One was playing badminton at Metrobadminton. When she returned to her car, the window has been “cut through” and all her valuables, including a laptop were gone. The “cut glass” laid on the car seat (i guess it was pushed inwards after using a glass cutter?)

Another friend went jogging early morning at MOA. When she got back to her car which was parked in the open parking area, all her valuables were gone. Same case, window has been “cut through” and the cut glass laid on the carseat..

Heard there was also a similar incident wherein the vehicle robbed was a Montero.

Let’s be wary where we park. And hope to these robbers die a horrible death.

Care to share what kind of car those are? Or are these criminals so blatant they don't care what make the car is anymore and just cut through as many windows as they can?

    they don't care what car

kahit tinted pa yan, they assume people always leave valuable stuff in parked cars

most of the time they're right

usually ni spot-an kung may laman ang loob.. kaya wag kayo mag iiwan nang kahit anong bag or anything sa loob nang oto.. lagay nyo sa trunk or dalhin nyo..

yung iba nga wala nang glass cutter.. tshirt or jacket binabalot sa kamay sabay basag salamin..

Nangyari din to sa kotse ng pinsan ko last panagbenga festival. Madaling araw tinira ng mga kawatan. Best advise is kung hindi kayangdalin yung mga valuables, itago ito sa hindi makikita kagad like sa ilalim ng upuan or glove box or compartment. pwede rin na magpatint ng reflective type para di makita loob ng sasakyan.

Actually this has been a long time MO, they actually prefer vehicles with tint. They shatter the glass with a spark plug, then walk away to make sure no one spotted them. When area is clear, they comeback and just use a blade to cut through the shattered glass then enter through the glass window. They don't use the door since it usually triggers the alarm.

They prefer tinted vehicles because the tint will hold the shattered glass together.

Prevention is still best against this, do not leave anything valuable inside your vehicle. In the photo forums I frequent this occurance is so common, that I am still surprised that people still leave their camera gears inside the car.

If for some reason leaving your valuables is unavoidable, invest in lockable cases that can be chained to your vehicle, like Pelican cases or if you want something more fashionable look into those Pac-Safe bags, then chain them inside the trunk, just make sure that you place your item in the trunk before you leave and not when you arrive at your destination, where the thieves are already spotting which vehicle to attack and will see that the valuables are in the trunk.

when will people learn that leaving valuables inside the car is a no-no...if no choice pwede naman ilagay sa trunk eh. ang laki-laki ng trunk hinde pa ilagay muna doon mga laptops, bags etc.

at least kung sinilip at nakita nilang walang makukuha eh di lilipat na sila sa ibang kotse. and it's not the make of the car. sinisilip nila kung meron mga pwedeng makuha. they will not wasted time and effort kung stereo lang kukunin hinde na nga uso na kinukuha ang stereo ng kotse eh dagdag lang sa effort yan eh. kaya mga gadgets, bags na lang kuhanin nila.

di glass cutter ang gamit nila, screw driver lang. insert lang between glass and window frame then twist, shattered na agad yung glass. then push na lang nila inward. walang sound halos, "tick" lang daw madidinig mo kung malapit ka. yan sabi sa akin sa aguila glass nung nagpa-install ako window, nabiktima din kasi sta fe ko.
