Seriously, the emergency vehicle has right-of-way. The ambulance driver should have just been a little more cautious before running through the intersection.
I don't know how to post FB vids either...![]()

emergency vehicles have right of way, kahit counterflow pa yan. kahit na green light pa sa jeepney wala siya laban (forget the yellow, yellow is "warning" but it still is "go" until it turns red).
Slightly at fault si ambulance dahil he should have been cautious dahil intersection pa rin yun. From the looks of it kasi hindi man lang sya nagmenor para tignan kung safe bang tumawid sa intersection. Malamang may siren din yung ambulance so bat di nya pinansin?
If they counterflow and run through intersections, may diskarte pa rin.

They don't bother to look forward and see which lane generally moves faster. Not only do they delay themselves, they also inconvenience others with their frequent lane changes.
While ambulance drivers do technically have the right of way, jeepney drivers aren't psychic. The Ambulance came from far back, and the jeepney driver's view of it was obstructed by traffic. Even if the jeepney driver was speeding, he was set to cross before the red, and would have had right of way if it weren't an ambulance he hit. Still.. bonehead. When you see a yellow, slow down and proceed with caution.
That said, the ambulance driver was insanely stupid. Even if you have right of way, a siren isn't a force-field. You have to exercise due diligence while driving. The ambulance should have slowed down approaching the intersection to make sure the way was clear before proceeding.
Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up doing janitorial work for the next two months while they repair that ambulance. By the law, there will be no consequences for him, but that was a very painful lesson in proper situational awareness for the ambulance driver.
*Yes, I've driven ambulances. Some of them slightly sideways.![]()

I wonder if the idiotic PUV driver is still plying the streets.
I was about to comment about right of way dun sa isang thread about taxi vs. SUV. Eto rin palagi ko sinasabi sa kapatid ko.Kahit right of way ka pa, iba pa rin ang nag-iingat. Suppose nasa right of way ka at nabangga ka. Okay, menos gastos ka kasi either sagot ng insurance mo or nung nakabangga.... pero your vehicle may never be the same as it was before your accident. Buti sana kung superficial lang, like gasgas or dent. Idagdag mo pa yung sobrang hassle.
