The year is 2006 going 2007, talaga bang 1 hour pa din ang pag-print ng digital photos?

May pinaprint akong photos for my USB. Kinailangan pa i-photoshop (to crop, enlarge, adjust lighting) to fit the 5x7 frames na paglalagyan. Ok naman ang service, they photoshopped the photos in front of us, pati printing, on the spot na din. The staff (dalawa lang sila sa store) were very helpful lalo na't wala akong alam sa photo editing. Medyo mahal lang ang processing/editing fee but the prints themselves cost around Php20/ea (5R).

So nagpunta ako dun to pick up.

So-so compared sa Digiprint SM SL.

. Wasak ang schedule ko for that day.

As for matte vs. glossy, depende sa ipiprint yan, for most pambahay 3-5R prints ok lang matte, but if you need the details of the photo, matte paper kills it hehe.

In the thousands of photos I had printed, I got better results in matt in terms of image quality (yes, that includes details), color reproduction and fasting.

    Well, as always, YMMV.

Boybi: longevity has to do with the paper quality and ink quality, the finish isn't really the issue.

Oldblue: May point ka dun, but don't mistake regular ink jets to photo ink used INSIDE an inkjet printer. If you go to studio printers, they use professional inks and papers that cost a lot but the printing method is the same as inkjet printers.

Actually with high quality photo paper and inks, even household printed photos can last half a century... A century or more if kept in UV/O2 free containers.

But you're right, the Digiprint prints are of poor quality most of the time.

Oks an glossy paper for printing everyday snapshots or kung gusto mo ng pics with vibrant colors. Yung matte paper eh the best for photos na pang sabit sa wall at dun sa mga photos na kailang i-handle regulary. For B&W, the best ang matte paper.

Pros and cons ng matte at glossy:

    Matte:
    Pros -
    1. Smudes, stains and fingerprints are not visible
    2. Perfect for lithograph/artistic prints na isasabit sa wall.
    3. Most (hindi lahat ha) professional prints are done using matte paper. So, if you use matter paper to print your pics, parang professional ang dating mo - lalo na kung B&W yung pic.
    4. Halos walang glare.

    Cons -
    1. Medyo grainy ang finish. Would not advise this paper kug ISO/400 pataas ang ginamit dun sa shot - grainy na eh lalo pang magiging grainy.
    2. Yung colors eh hinde ganun ka vivid at vibrant compared sa print using glossy paper.

    Glossy:
    Pros -
    1. Colors are vivid and vibrant
    2. Kung 100% naka focus yung shot at 100% tamang settings ang ginamit, the images would be crisp and sharp - lifelike kung baga.

    Cons -
    2. Not good for B&W prints
    3. May glare. Hirap tingan yung pic at certain angles.
Pag naiwang nakadikit for a long period of time, malaki ang chance that the photo would be ruined.

In the end, it all boils down sa kung ano preference nyo.

Print as is lang ang kaya nila.

Never again talaga. hehehe.

OT; Talking about digital picture printing, to cut cost select only the picture you want to frame (as Otep did) and save the rest to CD or Website photo hosting. In case you want to print just go to photo shop with web access and select the pix you want to print.

sir although all praises ka sa digiprint for being a one stop shop. sa inkjet lang nila pini-print yun. the quality of prints fade in 3 months or less under the elements, kahit simple house light lang.

island photo, kodak, fuji and others print using minilab or dyesubs with laminated coating yun. around 50 years or more ang preservation.

I wouldn't have my photos printed in any of these fly by night photo shops masquerading as full-service minilabs. photos are for archiving and memories eh. I think another popular chain that uses only inkjet eh yun Tronix.

there have been cases na even yun mga passport photos that were printed in inkjet na gamit mo sa passport eh nag-fade habang nag-to-tour ka. imagine the horror kung nasa foreign immigration ka, and they will question your identity.

Ok lang kahit maglaho in a year or two, evolving naman ang decor. Malabong umabot ng 20 years on display yung photos (they get updated every so often).

For album photos, sa Kodak talaga namin pinapagawa iyon. For straight on photo processing, ok ang Kodak.

i've had nothing but good experiences from the Fuji Frontier outlet in Glorietta.

the outlet in Megamall is the first and i think largest Frontier outlet in the Philippines. Fuji Crystal Archive is the benchmark by which everyone else's prints are measured. it's good enough for some fine art photographers.

    and it's cheap. 8" x 12" is only 54 pesos.

Eto pa pala... I got this free software for doing mosaics. I just forgot the name. Tapos gawa ako ng sariling mosaic, then split the big pic into two 8" x 12" tapos pa-print sa Fuji. Two is enough wala nang processing fee kasi lampas 100 pesos na yun (108 to be exact).

OK naman, used that mosaic at my wedding (what can i say.. i'm cheap sometimes). although there is this printing joint in Greenhills na mas maganda ang gawa. Yun nga lang 400 pesos yung 20" x 24" pero isa lang. di kailangan ipag-dikit. for my next mosaic project (friend's baby's picture) dun na ako nagpa-print sa Greenhills.
