    medyo messy eh, you end up having to clean up all the blood from your seats.

    I'd rather have the system that was "advertised" in one of Robocop episodes.
    The car's door would lock and the seats will deliver 5000volts to the would-be car thief until he is well done. When you arrive back to your car, all you need is to dump the "now-dead" would-be car thief on the side of your car and drive away.

    I am looking for this type of device. There is a local distributor (www.trackme.com) where they will put a GPS phone device in your car. You can track your car anywhere. But their pricing is designed more for fleet car establishment. The cost is a bit pricey. I asked how much if this is for an individual car, mga P35K daw ata for the installation. Then there is a monthly charge of P650 if you want a web interface (which includes a map which will show exactly where your car is) or just P350 if just the SMS interface. The SIM card is not included in the cost. They said that you can control you car via SMS, well depending on the car. You can turn off the engine by sending an SMS to this device. Looks pretty cool but expensive for my taste.

    My officemate suggested that I should just buy a similar device which he was able to find from the NET. He said the cost is less than P20K. There is also a GPS device and can SMS you. But it will give you the coordinates in terms of longitude and lattitude (tama ba spelling ko?). So you need to convert this to get the real location. Meron naman daw utilities and Manila map in the internet where you can convert the coordinates to more friendly location.

    Has anybody else researched on this? I have a new car and would like to make this investment.

    Actually, our company happens to be the lone and local supplier of GSM/GPS modules that is being used for application like tracking device, fleet management, telemetry, and telematics. Tracking system is so familiar in Europe, US and some parts of Asia and there are a lot of manufacturers for this product. In Phils, the pioneering companies are Webcast Tech the maker of Track Me, Find Me, and Secure Me; all are using our GSM/GPS module. Another co like ANTS, the maker of Gotcha also uses our GSM/GPS modules. Other co like Starcom is also on this line of business. I can name the first 2 as the major tracking companies that boast of their mapping system and sophisticated rover. BUT most of their prices ranges from 18k to 30k pesos each (rover price, except for the subscription) depending on the package you get. Basically, these companies are selling their mapping system and the only way to do that is to sell a hardware device like a GSM/GPS tracking device.

    Good thing, one of my customer is able to do and build a low cost GSM tracking device for 15k (addional 1k for the installation) and does the same feature these 2 companies are now implementing. Although the device has no GPS on it, but the PCB has the footprint of the GPS in case the customer decided to upgrade it. Features like engine immobilizer/mobilizer, door lock, and sending of alarm all via SMS. For tracking, you can just enroll your SIM with Smart or Globe's person finder. For more info, kindly PM me for those interested customer. I think they can also accept customization of the device depending on the preference of the customer. Also, they can even give discounts for group package, and what I can guarantee you is the quality of it. Pls. take note we are the disti of Siemens wireless module www.siemens.com/wm and Falcom products www.falcom.de.

    Ok to, I visited the site and the features look promising. Siguro nga lang medyo pricey to, kasi meron pang GSM/GPRS subscription.

    Ang talo nga lang dito kung ma-locate kagad ng mga carjackers/carnappers yung device, bale wala rin. Some mechanics can dismantle a car in just half a day.

    Siguro pabilisan na lang ng paglocate;
    carjackers > device
    owner > car

    On my customer's design, the subscription will be for the sending of sms to your device. Kahit prepaid pwede naman. May check balance naman na feature yung sa customer ko kaya never na mag zezero balance sya unless nakalimutan mong loadan. One year warranty pa ang offer nya on the unit basta cla ang magkakabit.

    This is on top of the device cost + installation + maintenance di po ba?
    How much is the difference, cost-wise, sa normal load ng Smart/Globe?
    Overall, do I have to load my cell for both device and Smart/Globe?

    This is on top of the device cost and installation. The maintenance is for you to keep it loaded. Cost wise, you can use prepaid SIM or kung ayaw mong mag-abala pa sa loading, get the cheapest plan from both Telco para cguradong d maubusan ng load. In case naman na magzero balance sya, you can still use the security feature kaya lang di sya makapagrereport thru sms once there has been an illegal entry to your car. We have a brochure in case you are interested. Over-all, make sure na may load yung device for reporting purpose at pati yung cell mo to arm/disarm thru sms. There is a manual naman for you to keep and a warranty card for those interested.

    Yup, no need to disable the default alarm system. Actually, itatap lang yung connection of the current alarm dun sa GSM security device.

    Tama ka RevoGSX, arming/disarming is done via SMS. Reporting everytime mag-alarm yung car mo. By this, maeensure mo na talagang may nagbabantay at nagrereport sa yo 24/7 just make sure may load palagi yung device. To be sure, use the lowest plan like GTxt from Globe para di troublesome.
