Now that you mention it, you're correct. Mas mabilis yung waiting time sa traffic light.
I pass by this C5/Kalayaan intersection everyday, have done so for 3 years. The U Turn overpass has definitely halved the waiting time at the stoplight for those coming from Pateros/Buting.

For those who moaned the time it took to finish, I can't complain. The U turn overpass was done is less then a year, a conventional over/underpass like on Shaw-Edsa would have taken longer with more trafric disruption, do you like what has happened along the service roads of edsa, clogged by buses that hv made the street a bus terminal?

I also agree, that the MMDA has not successfuly controlled obstruction of traffic by jeeps, buses and tryicles. Look at the next intersection, the overpass at Market Market as you exit Fort Bonifacio into C5 is needlessly clogged by waiting FX taxis, motorcyle for hire etc. and people crossing from MktMkt into Taguig. Traffic backs up into the Serendra area at rush hour only because of this. Again, the very wide service lane going down into C5 northward is used as a parking space by these public transports and they do a U-Turn against traffic flow to access into Fort Bonifacio!

I agree that the width main lane of C5 should not have been reduced. To do this, the only way would have been for the govt to expropriate a few meters more of the sides of C5, its anybody's guess why this was not done...hehe. It is indeed frustrating that what otherwise could have been done well is compromised by some unspoken reasons, at the least I dare say lack of will to do as needed. I read in another internet news article that another UTurn overpass will be constructed on the pasig side, I agree this should be done, BUT, I keep my fingers crossed at whether again, the width of C5 will be reduced. The govt seems to have accepted this kind of compromise in other overpass projects. Look at the Edsa-Tramo left turn overpass, or the Bicutan skyway downramp. They must have said then, thats temporary, the ramps will be removed when the skyway is extended...sure. For ten years it stayed....

But no one can deny the inconvenience it has brought while it was still under construction though. Sobrang traffic talaga noon, and although it took less than a year as the previous post mentioned, no one can blame those who cursed it because its construction is at a time when oil prices rose significantly that no one can afford to sink into heavy traffic.

I suppose it can be moved to the thumbs up now though... before and after kumbaga. OR better yet just rename the thread title to Bayani's Kalayaan Elevated U-Turn Construction Grudges... or something similar. Not too good at thinking about thread titles these days.

The best thumbs up I suppose is not really just on the Elevated U-Turn, but on the part near ADMU. Laking improvement eversince sinara yung mga U-Turn slots, wala ng mga pasaway na from the outermost lane e kakabig to the innermost ng walang kasignal-signal para lang mag-U-Turn.

It's funny to read all the past negative comments and criticisms that it won't work. lol.

I've passed here several times and C5 Kalayaan intersection has improved a LOT. Obviously, it was dreadful during construction (just like any) but look at it now.

Before, I always expect that there will be traffic starting at the approach of the flyover before Kalayaan (sorry don't know its name) up until Kalayan avenue itself, also at its opposite (market market to Kalayaan). Now, nada. I still haven't experienced that build-up so far. :-)

Hopefully, MMDA can also do something about Mayon avenue. It's this road from A.Bonifacio that leads to Welcome Rotonda. It's worse than an off-road track.

    Thumbs up to BF!

Lucia intersection. I used to pass there a lot before and it seemed to be better with the stoplights, when they put the U-turn slots and fences, magulo.

To this very day, sinusumpa ko yung Kalayaan flyover U-turn slots na yan. Its an eyesore and a bottleneck.

Exactly what I tell people - a flyover would have been built quicker and be more efficient.

Yan kasi... vision of the people behind the project too narrow.

Either blinded by his big ego or the big kickbacks.

Regular flyover would benefit both the motorist and pedestrians.

The elevated u-turns is a nightmare to cross if you are a pedestrian.

IN the end, it will be an example to the world NOT what to build.

I agree, whenever I pass by C5 it had always been a puzzle to me why they did this overhead U turn I mean why not a fly over similar to the one found in Ortigas... Now I know the answer just after reading this thread.

they should have instead made a flyover and did a widening of the road going down to pasig instead of these monstrosities.
