And yes, i also never give way to those who counterflow in traffic. When i see a single vehicle is coming out from a side street or establishment and on the other side of the road and maayos yung signal niya, those i let in.

Speaking of the BMW, have you seen him lately, Vinj? Di ko na kasi nakikita. I wonder if he already placed his RP plates back to where it should originally be -- at the back of the car, not somewhere inside the car or inside the house covered with dirt.

*IMm29: Guess you're not alone. Marami rin ako close calls yesterday.

1st: Grabe traffic sa Northbound EDSA kahapon kahit mga 4pm palang, and it's due to the Santolan underpass.

Anyway, was merging sa leftmost lane and this idiot on a stock green Civic EK VTi decided not to give way. Okay, pwede sana kung bumusina siya or nag-flash ng light man lang. But no! He decided to creep towards my side, on a slow-pace.. due to that, akala ko magbibigay. But then, when I was so close getting into his lane he decided to speed up at umambang babanggain talaga ako sa gilid. Syempre since yung bagong kotse ko dala nun I immediately swerved to the right and let him pass. When I got into his lane, he did the same with the other cars that wanted to go into our lane.

2nd: I was cruising along Tomas Morato yesterday then an idiot on a grey CRV stopped in front of me. Akala ko naman mag-uturn, so nung nag-left na siya I decided to accelerate slowly then nung almost pasok na hood ko bigla siya umatras. I halted. Backed up a bit, then let him park. Grabe, kaya nga nauso signal light diba. Kahit hazard, signal left or right wala!

I do it too pag paatras ako mag park tapos may nakita ako parating.

Usually though, lalo na pag may sumusunod sa likod, I just signal either left or right (kung saan yung park slot) and most people get it naman at di na didikit masyado.

in our area most of the tricycle drivers don't even bother turning their nightlights on, same with some jeepney drivers. kaya two weeks ago wasak yung isang tricycle sa kotse ng masalubong siya.

Sa kanto ng shaw blvd at pioneer st (giong to c5 route), I needed to go to caltex which was on the corner. Tatawid ito ng pioneer street. Red light pa that time. So nung mag green, signal ako ng going to right para makaright sa caltex. However, 2 jeepneys stopped, blocking the rightmost lane. Nag aantay na pasahero. So naipit ako sa kanto, blocking pioneer street. I was worried na maabutan pa ako ng red and mag green yung pioneer street. So a couple of honks, flashes of high beams!

Dapat ipinasok or itinabi na lang nila jeeps nila sa caltex. not blocking the road.

I live around the area, and yes, ganyan talaga yang mga jeep na yan. Best not to stop behind them, just overtake with the left lane then pasok ka kagad sa Caltex para maiwasan mo rin yung jeep na nakatigil naman sa Shaw side.

Yung magagaling na maghaharang ng intersection.

At Jupiter cor Polaris earlier, white delivery van blocks intersection to turn to Polaris. Stop pa naman sila. Tsk tsk! Taxi driver behind van stops but room isnt quite enough.

Why is it that some people have the nerve to get mad at those who are "slow" to move out of their parking slots. Just last week, I had to remind a spoiled brat that he had no right to harass me because I was still arranging my groceries. Long story short, I went back inside the mall to get some coffee & relax. I already paid for the slot for the entire day. I can't be obligated to rush myself just so I can accomodate a stranger who lacks manners. If you can't wait, go find another slot. 😡

I agree with you on this. All anyone waiting on a slot should do is just, well, wait. He can ask if you're leaving but then that should be it.

On the flipside, however, people who know they are being followed should give a signal whether or not they are actually leaving or are just depositing stuff in the car. A lot of times some folks can not even acknowledge the waiting car and wave it off. Until the driver/passenger leaves and the waiting driver is dumbfounded.

There should really be a balance in this:
    - If you're not leaving, do signal the person who is following and waiting.
    - If you surely are going to leave, it's okay to set up and get yourself settled down, send out a text message or do a quick phone call before moving out of the slot. However, it's also "pakikisama" if one doesn't take their super sweet time if someone is waiting and the parking lot is packed during a mall rush hour (yung tipong more than 5 minutes pa mag bababad sa kotse for no good reason at all pero aalis naman talaga). But either way, tama na walang karapatan magalit yung naghihintay. He can get irritated for all he wants inside his car while suffering from the impatience of waiting but it most cases it's wrong if he has the nerve to get down and tell off the person who rightfully has the parking slot.

For me, this is what i think i do that is considered bad motoring etiquette:

    - I'm with the 4th lane that usually cuts the line at the EDSA - Shaw underpass during rush hour. In theory, it's only supposed to be three lanes going under however during rush hour, private cars on EDSA straddle between the yellow and private lanes to make up a 4th lane.
    - When i'm at front in certain intersections, i sometimes edge my car over what's supposed to be the pedestrian lane or i stick close to the gutter to prevent motorcycles from cutting ahead of me at the stoplight.

The other things i do are usually reactionary:

    - When someone drives behind me with his headlights on bright the whole time for no apparent reason, i let him go ahead then give him a taste of his own medicine.
    - When i see someone counter flowing traffic, i close the gap in front of me and refuse to give way for him to get back in line.
    - When i see someone texting while driving and swerving erratically on their lanes, i blow my horn at them

I guess over time I've mellowed down and learned that i'll age better by just keeping in line with things and know well that i'll get to my destination. On our roads, you don't have to be an aggressive driver to get ahead.

Case to case basis naman ito. Valid naman at pakiusap naman ang nangyari. It's a bit different from bpascal's example wherein minamadali na wala namang sinasabing matinong dahilan para madaliin yung naka-park.

I think it would be a good give and take if the guy waiting for a slot not just "stalks" the guy walking to a slot, and asks politely if he was leaving. Guy walking should say yes or no. If no, case closed. If yes, yun na. Guy waiting has to wait, guy walking can take some time to prep -- wag naman sobrang tagal, like what vinj said -- and then leave. If guy waiting NEEDS to park urgently, makiusap. If he just WANTS to park, he'll just have to wait, or look for another slot. It's a compromise between both parties. Whatever is "reasonable" should be applied.

Maybe the problem is that I don't get pissed if it's the other way around? If someone doesn't want the "inconvenience" of waiting, he should hire a driver.

Besides, I'm certain that the parking wasn't full. It just so happened that my slot was near the mall's entrance since I dropped by early.

People who park on public roads near there homes regularly. If you don't have your own private place to park, rent one! If not, then don't buy a car!!!

Bad motoring etiquette: What you hate the most.
