Two vehicles turn turtle in San Juan and Marikina
Two vehicles – a car and an SUV, turned turtle in separate places in the Metropolis at dawn Sunday, the first the result of a car chase and the second because it’s driver was drunk.
Atom Araullo of ABS-CBN reported that the first accident occurred on the westbound lane of Ortigas Ave., San Juan where Jeff Sy said his blue Mercedes Benz was chasing a white Mazda.
Sy refused to give a comment on camera but he earlier said he was chasing the Mazda after the Mazda hit his car in the Shaw underpass and did not even stop and assess the damage wrought on his Mercedes Benz.
Instead, Sy said, the Mazda revved its engine and sped away along EDSA until it turned off into Ortigas Ave.
Sy said he was unable to keep up and his own car turned turtle, although he was left unharmed.
A Suzuki Jimny Wagon also turned turtle at the U-turn slot along Marcos highway in Marikina just after the accident in San Juan.
Police said the driver of a red SUV with plate number XHJ-241 after encroaching on the approaching lane at the U-turn slot along Marcos Highway.
Of the three passengers of the SUV, only the driver was injured. His injuries were restricted to scratches on his hand.
The driver was identified as call center agent Billy Nabalta.
Nabalta was unable to present any driver’s license and had apparently been drinking.
Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property will be filed against him by the police.
