Will it guarantee survival? No one can say for sure.

Will it help? Probably. Side curtain airbags are designed to prevent the passenger from coming into contact with hard objects. In side impacts, injuries stemming from hitting the side glass, window frame, and other parts of the interior are very common.

In stronger crashes, it is also common to be actually hit by what is actually crashing into the vehicle (e.g. the front end of the truck).

The cushioning effect provided by the airbag might have helped lower the g forces and reduced blunt trauma forces to a more survivable level.

But that's one helluva side impact. Even the front airbags got triggered! Must've been massive g forces at play.

It could have lessened the effects of the impact to reduce the extent of injury but as far as I know, when they do test airbag equipped vehicles, the safety tests are done against equal to or less than the size/mass of the test vehicle so there's a strong possibility that the van used here wasn't ready for that amount of impact from a fast moving mass almost 3 times (or more) its own weight, much more, a sideways impact at that.
