Whether or not that sticker is a campaign material, we can only guess.

My question to you is this: if he does run, would you vote for him?

nakakapanghinayang... few years ago, hanga ko kay bayani sa nagawa nya sa marikina... two thumbs up...
pero in his stint as mmda chair, imo naturuan sa politika sya...
i still give him some credit... some of his ideas are good, some are not...
the bad part about it is that he now more of a politician...

naku ako hindi. kung MMDA di nya mapatino, pilipinas pa kaya. dami kurakot at kotong na MMDA sa hway natin. plus sya mismo di marunong sumunod sa batas. matigas ang ulo. kahit utos ng SC di nya sinusunod.

MANILA, Philippines – Don’t you dare touch my posters.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chair Bayani Fernando gave this warning yesterday to the Department of Public Works and Highways, which has threatened to tear down his posters around the metropolis.
Unlike commercial billboards, the posters bearing his photo do not imperil lives and property, Fernando said in a statement.
“They shouldn't do that,” he said of the DPWH's threat to remove the posters. “Unlike other billboards, they don't pose danger to lives and property.”
Premature campaigning
“They're part of an intensified information and educational campaign of the MMDA to instill discipline among residents and restore order in the metropolis,” he said.
The tarpaulin posters carry various messages with similar themes. One shows an unsmiling Fernando, in a barong Tagalog and with arms folded across his chest, with the slogan: “Kaayusan: Metro Guwapo, Tao Ganado, Produktibo, Kahirapan Naiibsan.”
Others urge the public to beautify the city landscape.
Fernando has made known his desire to run for president in 2010. Critics have lambasted him for putting up the posters as part of his early campaigning for the elections but he dismissed the protests as baseless.
Remove billboards, instead
Fernando said the posters, as well as the “Pahayagan ng Bayan” wired frames he has installed on street islands which issue public advisories, do not obstruct the flow of traffic and are not public hazards.
He advised DPWH-National Building Code Development Office Director Emmanuel Cuntapay to just “do his job and remove the commercial billboards found violating the law instead of the MMDA posters.”
Cuntapay has appealed to Fernando to put down his streamers because they might endanger motorists and pedestrians, especially during typhoons.

Fernando said the Pahayagan ng Bayan structures were put up upon the request of various government agencies for their respective advocacies.
“We have to inform everybody through these posters and Pahayagan ng Bayan. They are the most effective way to do it. They are all in the interest of the general public,” he said.
Since last month, the DPWH has dismantled 315 billboards in the metropolis, mostly along Edsa.
The campaign to remove illegal billboards gained momentum after the 2006 Typhoon Milenyo wreaked havoc on the metropolis, toppling more than 40 such structures.

MMDA has an allocated budget for information dissemination purposes I'm sure. I think this is where the money is coming from for those posters and billboards. Nothing wrong with that. It is just right for an agency to advertise its advocacies and objectives.

However, it becomes wrong if it is used as a means of pursuing a person's political agenda or ambitions. This is where the thin line comes in. It is wrong in my opinion to create posters and bill boards where the message constitute less than half of the whole layout and the rest by the picture or image of the leader of that agency, in the hope that it will create name or person recall to the mind of the voting public. This, to my mind, is cheap political gimmickry. In the light that he had openly expressed his desire to run for the highest public office, he's turning into a full-blooded "trapo".

Bumenta na nuon ito. I won't sell anymore. I believe that the voting public is wiser now and can already discern what a political stunt is and what is truly an agency's advocacy information dissemination.

At the end, if he intends to seek a higher elective government position, this MMDA poster campagn will work against him, I'm sure.

I hope somebody tells him that.

sure, a lot of the Philippine population is concentrated in the NCR, but he doesn't stand a chance without carrying the provinces, right? and can he really do that with posters? kahit ganong kadami pa yan....

Yeah right. Classic BF. Every time somebody tells him that he could be wrong, he insists that he is right.

Pwede namang mag information dissemination campaign without his or somebody else's picture plastered all over the billboard/sign. Why can't he just put...say..."Friendly reminder from the MMDA" or something? Mas malaki pa yung picture nya kaysa dun sa lettering nung mga sign eh. Don't tell me that's part of his plan to "educate" people? Sure, he can put in an argument that images/pictures captures people's attention immediately pero marami namang creative ways to do a multi-media information campaign.

He'd have to work harder than that to get the nod of the voter's majority from MM, a lot of which are the masses/poor that are not fond of his face. He's also a veritable unknown in the provinces.

If he's thinking of running for president in 2010, good luck to him - he'll need it.

As far as I know, he occupies an appointed position as Chairman of the MMDA. The MMDA is directly under the Office of the President.

Ngayon pa lang ginagamit na nya resources ng gobyerno sa maling dahilan.

Sana lang huwag na siya magpilit lalo na marami ang nakakakitang mali ang ginagawa niya. No more BS. Kung gusto niya kumandidato, magbitiw na siya sa tungkulin niya as MMDA chairman. Doon na lang siya mag-concentrate sa kampanya niya. Sa ganung paraan, hindi nagdududa ang mga tao kung saan niya kinukuha ang funds para i-plaster niya ang mukha niya sa daan. Delikadesa lang naman ang issue sa mga poster na yan. Hindi naman lahat ng buka ng bibig niya e bible-truth dahil wala siyang monopolyo ng utak.
As I see it, the posters pose a more serious danger to women who are wishing to have a baby. Baka matiyempuhan na naglilihi yung babae e yung mukha niya ang maalala. Just kidding!
