Prominent doctor killed in predawn accident on Edsa

MANILA, Philippines - A prominent medical doctor was charred when his car burst into flames after it was hit from behind by one of two racing buses on Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) before dawn Tuesday.
The doctor's name would be withheld until his family shall have been informed of the incident.
Radio dzBB's Roland Bola reported that the accident occurred at the northbound portion of Edsa near the Santolan Station of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT).
The report also said that the passenger of the doctor was hurt and was rushed to a hospital.
"Nagkakarerahan ang bus at sumalpok sa kotse, nagkaroon ng triple collision (The buses were racing and one of them hit the car. There was a triple collision)," said a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority aide who saw the incident.
Police are now looking for a bus driver initially identified only as Madrid.
The victim was driving his old-model Mercedes Benz sedan (NFH-602) when a rushing bus hit the car from behind.
Rescue workers managed to rush a female passenger on the sedan to the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC).
Also rushed to the EAMC was a bus conductor and a bus passenger, the report said.
Initial investigation showed the Mercedes Benz stopped behind a "Commuters Bus Line" bus when two racing buses hit the sedan from behind, causing the sedan to burst into flames.
